Default Am I the only one...

...who really doesn't give a damn about the events of 52?

I'm sorry, I've tried; but I just cant' get into this thing. Most of the "heroes" seem like throw-aways, killing time, and marking places until the real deal returns. The endless rotation of artists necessary to pull the schedule off is uneven, to be kind, and frankly my real interest in Isis largely died when the saturday morning show was cancelled. The only thing I had any real interest in, was the Supernov mystery, and that's waning too.

52 lost me at issue #7.

Not that it was bad or anything, I just wasn't enjoying it much. I wasn't getting anything out of owning and reading the issues that I couldn't get out of quickly reading over the issue summaries that have been posted here.

I like it quite a bit. and I think the main reason I like it, is because the "real deal" people are gone. Allowing lesser known people to shine. Question is working his stuff, and ralph is kicking ass and taking names. And animal man and Strange have got quite an interesting quest themselves.

Actually the more "big" the characters are, the less I like them. The whole lex luthor/steel drama thing is rather boring. All the angst is making me choke.

Yeah, I've always been a fan of third-stringers, and this book has 'em by the bucket. I could care less what the events of this book connect to in the grand scheme of things, I just like reading about characters like The Question, and Steel, and Elongated Man, even if they're being changed dramatically or adapting into new roles.

I'm with Jack, I love the 3rd Stringers. And DC has some of the best 3rd stringers out there.

I'm loving the mysteries that are slowing being revealed over the course of the series and the OYL titles. Is it slow at times? Yes, but that's because it's necessary to set the stage for what's coming.

This will definitely be one of those titles that will be a great read once complete.

There are a lot of things that I'm enjoying about 52. The artwork is uneven and often plain, but the writing is pretty good. The plots are mostly interesting, and are getting more so as some seem to converge or at least overlap. We are getting quite the tour of the DCU, and Morrison keeps tossing interesting new ideas into the mix. And while I thought that this series was just going to focus on a half-dozen characters, we are getting a lot more in the bargain, including significant cameos by first-string characters like Green Lantern and Green Arrow. By the time 52 is over, the DCU will be an even more interesting place, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, add me to the list of people who are enjoying 52. The storys are really picking up steam and getting more and more interesting. The uneven art does not bother me at all, because for the most part I have enjoyed the artists. Also, I am a HUGE fan of the smaller characters. I get tired of EVERYTHING being about Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern etc. It's nice to see the other characters of the DCU getting their time in the sun.

I like the lesser known characters in general, it's just that I don't feel I'm getting a new lease on lesser seen people; but filler with people who are going to be swept aside very soon. I guess, from responses thus far, that it's just me; but that's OK. I'm going to tell my dealer that I'm taking the issues he's pulled; but to stop pulling 52 from this point on.

Count me in on 52. I wasn't sold at first, because it's diluted Morrison, and doesn't have the power and structure of a regular Morrison joint. But that said, Waid is a good camp follower, and Morrison is clearly in the driving seat, and that accounts for the successful exercise in world-building.

I feel like the project fleshes out what it's like to live in the DC Universe. It's like it's following on from Marvels and Astro City, but realizing that DC is at its best when the writers get that it's a primary colour 2D universe, and the heroes are local gods. You can't Marvels up DC, because the characters won't behave the same way. What you can do is have these simply bizarre characters interacting according to their local logic, and that's just what we see here.

I actually love 52, and as a matter of fact I probably would be reading alot less DC if it weren't for the fact that I am picking a DC title every week. Compared to alot of the other DC stuff 52 has a great feel and story going on. It got me re -interested in characters like Animal Man, Question, Montoya and alot off other smaller characters. And I think its got a killer team of writers on the project, more hard core comic people than as compared to alot of the new "hollywood" writers and writers who made their marks first outside of comics. I think that helps to accomplish the varied stories and characters, these guys have worked on DC characters and these specific ones in 52 alot and I think it shows.

How many weeks into it are you caught up with? You might find a story within the past couple of months that's more than interesting enough to stick around for. One of my favorite more recent plots was Doctor Magnus' story picking up.

I'm still enjoying it. I've always loved anthology titles.
