Default Back To The Future: Dc Announces Five Year One Miniseries

Wow! Great news! I'm not sure who all of these creative teams are, but I'm already looking forward to this! I'll probably be picking up all of them except for Metamorpho....

Next year, DC Comics will turn back the clock on four characters and one team, and tell of beginnings.

In 2007, the publisher will launch five Year One miniseries, each one designed to streamline, clarify, or emphasize the start of a character(s) who will be playing major roles in the months to come. The five series are:

Green Arrow: Year One by Andy Diggle and Jock
Metamorpho: Year One by Dan Jurgens
Teen Titans: Year One by Amy Wolfram and Karl Kerschl
Black Lightning: Year One by Jen Van Meter and Cully Hamner
Huntress: Year One by Ivory Madison (w) and artist tba

No Booster Gold: Year One? Boooooooooooo!

I'll definitely be picking up the Green Arrow one because I love Andy Diggle's work, and Metamorpho's, if Jurgens is both writing and drawing it. The other three don't really jump out at me, though. Might pick 'em up in trades, eventually, but I won't read 'em monthly.

Sounds like a good plan by DC to give some much needed spotlight to characters who need it. Hopefully these series will feature quality scripts and artwork. I can see myself picking up Teen Titans, Black Lightning and Huntress.

Why couldn't Huntress have been re-booted to an Earth 2 history, which despite that world's end, remained intact?!?

Glad to see Rex is getting some recognition lately. I never understood the need to introduce that Shift character when DC has had an underused element man all along.

Well, at the time, Rex's resurrection story still wasn't complete, and Shift was supposed to appear to be Rex with amnesia, or something. Personally, I liked Shift, but I'm glad the real Metamorpho's back.

Do you think Huntress would work as a Spidergirl-type potential future character?

    Or just an elseworlds?

I defineitly think the daughter of Batman and Catwoman is a more interesting character than a school teacher who decided to take up the crossbow.

I came up with a slightly altered, post-Crisis, past for Huntress, years ago:

Helena is the daughter of the super-villainess the Huntress, as well as her ex-husband, the Sportsmaster. Having been captured and incarcerated, the original Huntress found out she was pregnant, and re-evaluated her life, vowing to make a new start once released. Her daughter Helena was raised for the first few years, by her maternal grandmother, and had no contact with her father, who wasn't told of her existence. Upon being released, her mother became involved with the super-hero responsible for her capture. At first I thought Mr. Terrific; but later thought the original Atom, or Wildcat would be a good choice. At any rate, the two married and raised Helena, who never knew about her biological father, until she was 16.

The Sportsmaster, never one for good behaviour, served his full sentence and was released. The first thing he did, was seek out his ex-wife, and begin to make trouble for her, blackmailing her (a la Catwoman in the original origin), which lead to her involvement in a crime, and ultimately her death. Helena took her mother's code-name, bound to vindicate her mother, and capture the man responsible for destroying her family, not knowing that he is her own father.

Huntress: Year One sounds intriguing, as does Green Arrow. For those of you ticked that your guy/girl wasn't included, don't sulk; it looks like they'll do more

Interesting to see that these characters will be important in 2007. I'll check these series out. I wonder if DC will do another 80-pager to intro these series. I think it might be a good idea, give the lesser known characters and creators involved.

Which era of Titians are they making a year one out of?

EDIT: Ah, read link. Cool, totally getting the trades to the Green Arrow, Teen Titans, and Huntress ones.
