I've been on the road a lot over the past couple of weeks but did get the chance to sit down this weekend and read some books.
Ultimate Spider-man TPB Vol. 3 ~ 6 - Vol. 3 finally arrived at my local library this past week and re-reading this series from the beginning has been a blast! I also had fun reading these books out loud to my kids. Both of them enjoyed it, even through all of the Bendis talking heads scenes did tend to bore them a little bit. My son (who is 2 1/2 years old) did tell me after the fact the both Doc Ock and Venom were a little scar (which is understandable). I'm so enthused about this series again that I want to try and track down all of the HC that have been printed for my book shelf.
Captain America #21 & 22, Union Jack #1 - More good stuff from Brubaker. How perfect is the art team of Epting & Perkins for Cap? It was nice to see the old Kiss Kiss Bang Bang art team on the UJ mini-series. Christos Gage impressed me with his Deadshot mini last year and I'm hoping that this will be as good.
Ms. Marvel #1 ~ 3 - I seem to have completely dropped all mutants in favor of Avengers books in recent years. I'll admit that the fact that Ms. Marvel appears to play a part in the upcoming Mighty Avengers title peaked my interest in her solo title. Brian Reed's scripts are solid, especially for someone who has not written a whole lot of comic books. The Brood and Cru (am I supposed to recognize this villain from anywhere?) were interesting choices for villains in the first arc. Looking forward to getting caught up on this series.
Heroes for Hire #2 - a little better than #1. I'm really loving the books from Marvel that are showcasing the lesser known characters of the universe. A bit disappointing that Billy Tucci already needed help in completing the art for this issue. Paladin! Paladin! Paladin! I wish that I had the issues of ASM handy that he appeared in back in the day.
Ousiders #41 - Another issue with not a whole lot taking place. I think that I am done with this title for now. The OYL jump for this book has been a big disappointment to me. It doesn't really seem like any of the dangling plot lines will ever come to a conclusion.
I've still got a whole lot of pamplets left on my reading pile, but I'm most excited about the books that I checked out of the library this weekend: Orbiter, The Interman & Fables TPB Vol. 1.
What did you read?
