Default Baeg Tobar's The Broken Mantle

    Hey all,

I’m trying my hand at writing my first webcomic, The Broken Mantle, and thought I’d pass around the cover. Rick Hershey, owner of Empty Room Studios, did the illustration and Ramiro Diaz Legaspe, out of Argentina, did the coloring.

The Broken Mantle is your usual tough guy, jungle girl and steam robot exploring a lost continent story. The backdrop is the planet of Baeg Tobar. It is a fantasy world that Jeremy Mohler has been building. We have 16 artists and eight authors fleshing it out with stories and now webcomics.

The Broken Mantle is just getting rolling, but I think we’re going to have a lot of fun with it. We’ve got some great art on the site, and I hope you all can take a look and let me know what you think.
I’ll bring some more art over as I can get my hands on it.

    Thanks!

    That's great Daniel, and welcome.

Looks like you have a good story here, best of luck with it.

    Thanks.

In case you missed it, here are a few posts from The Broken Mantle. We started in September, but have posting at least twice a week so it's moving along well. This is my first comic, so I'd thank you for any advice you might have.

Follow the sig for the rest if you're interested. Thanks for looking! (and thanks 13th for the help!)

Well, The Broken Mantle is moving along well. We had to cut back to a MF posting, (arg..always disappointing but so much to do!) All the same Rick and Ramiro are really kicking out some great pages and I must say my captions are brilliant! (or appropriate at any rate.)

Here are the next couple postings, like to hear what you all think!

    Default Mention in Secret Identity!

Alana Joli Abbott (the Baeg Tobar resident editor) dropped some nice words at the United FanCon in Springfield, Mass. this weekend. She was interviewed by Brian LeTendre from Secret Identity and explains what Baeg Tobar is all about.

LeTendre had very nice things to say about The Broken Mantle. Listen to the podcast here. Alana's interview starts at 27 minutes. The Broken Mantle mention is at 35:30.

Aw yeah, the sweet thrill of minor validation! If you don't have time to listen today, make sure to bookmark their site and listen in someother time. They really have a fun show!

Here is the next TBM page as well. Thanks for looking!

Thanks Jonny! I'll pass on your compliments to Rick, the illustrator. I just do the writing, myself.

On the robot, he's a steam-powered man. We're working with the idea that there was a highly advanced civilization powered by steam. They never went to combustibles so their steam engineering is very high-tech. The steam man's knowledge and intellegence comes from reel to reel metal tape (which has been corrupted as he's been out of commission for sometime.) The trio goes searching deeper into the continent to find the remenants of this fallen steam civilization

Captain Greye comes from a continent where they are just discovering steam. They also had the advantage of magic (where the steam civ did not) So the captain might pimp Brahma out to run on a magical engine rather than burning a wood or coal substitute. We'll see how that pans out.

Thanks for the comments and the questions Jonny!

Here are a couple more posts from The Broken Mantle. The second one is probably my favorite so far, but there are a lot of good pages going up. I won't be surprised if it gets replaced quickly.
