I can never afford to go anywhere high-brow but here's the restaurant section from the Stranger newspaper:Originally Posted by Gail Simone

When Robin and I were out there for the Emerald City Con*, we went to Andalucca, a very nice Spanish-themed restaurant at the Mayflower Park Hotel. It was great -- I had Paealla and Robin had a Beef Tenderloin special. Reservations are required, but it was definitely worth it. There's a nice Martini bar in the same hotel, so start there then mozy over to the restaurant.
*The rule is that whenever I drag Robin to a comic convention, I have to buy her a fancy dinner. So far it's a win-win situation
There are also other Seattlite restaurant ecommendations in the comment-thread to this post.
There is a cafe alley right in front of Pike Place Market. You will love it. Sit out on the balcony with your favorite pasta dish and watch across the cobble stone road at the fish market gather a crowd.
Is there a particular type of food or area of town you're looking for, Gail?

I vaguely recall being impressed with F.X. McRory's. (Hey, it was that kind of a day.)
And if you like bourbon:

I've visited the Sunfish at Alki Beach several times and always enjoyed it. Great fish & chips and a great neighborhood.

While walking to a doctor's appointment today, I passed a Haitian restaurant on First Hill called Waid's. Perhaps Gail would like to try dining there.

From Pia...
Dick's for a quick burger (they give their employees benefits)
Wild Ginger for an elegant meal
There's a bistro at Pike Place Market left of the pig.
McCormick and Schmicks for pub fare
Pagliaci's for pizza
The Thai House in Ballard across the street from Safeway
that's all she can think of for now.
Dick's is pretty good for hamburgers and their weird limp-but-tasty fries.Originally Posted by Ian Boothby
