[QUOTE=Cei-U!]Rob and I, being old, lazy and suffering from kryptonite poisoning, could only come up with four questions but we think they’re doozies. Good luck, kids.

    1. The cover of Fantastic Four Annual #3 is a virtual who’s who of the Marvel Universe circa 1965. Name the thirteen characters who appear on this cover (see attachment below) who do NOT appear in the story inside. (50 points each)

Heck, I probably can't make out 13 characters in total, given my eyesight these days. A wild guess -- Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, the Red Ghost, Hawkeye, Kid Colt, Sgt (as opposed to Nick) Fury, Medusa, the Hulk, the Red Skull, the Leader, the Super Skrull, Dragon Man & the Gray Gargoyle.

    2. Which of these ten TV series were NOT adapted for comic books? (100 points each)

    5. Gilligan’s Island
    9. Peyton Place
    10. Wanted: Dead or Alive

    3. Match the classic underground “comix” character to its creator (50 points each):

    1. Angelfood McSpade -- I. Robert Crumb
    2. Dopin’ Dan -- E. Ted Richards
    3. Harold Hedd -- G. Rand Holmes
    4. Wonder Wart-Hog --J. Gilbert Shelton
    5. The Checkered Demon -- C. Greg Irons
    6. Trashman -- H. Spain
    7. Gregor the Purple-Ass Baboon -- B. S. Clay Wilson
    8. Rowlf --F. Richard Corben
    9. Snappy Sammy Smoot -- A. Skip Williamson
    10. Zippy the Pinhead -- D. Bill Griffith

    4. Which of the following Golden Age super-heroes did we NOT make up? (50 points each)

    2. The Bouncer
    5. Golden Lad
    6. The Green Giant
    7. Kangaroo Man
    8. Mr. Satan
    10. The Spider Widow

That's probably the question I did best on by far (I'm about 99 percent sure I got 6 of 'em right -- the Rand Holmes, Ted Richards, S Clay Wilson & Greg Irons ID's were guesses, pretty much), even though I've read very little underground stuff beyond Bill Griffith (finished the 2000 Zippy Annual just a couple of weeks ago, as it happens) & Crumb.

Thanks for letting me help, Kurt! I just wish I'd double-checked Sammy Smoot.

    Dittos for the recount.

For FF Annual #3 I correctly listed:

Hulk, Rick Jones, Kid Colt, Leader, Loki, Medusa, Sgt. Fury, Subby. --> 400

So who is that guy with the tabby ears directly above Thor? He looks like something out of a Mighty Comic of the time.

    Two right TV shows

Alias Smith and Jones, Peyton Place --> 200 points

One correct undergrounder (yea I am an embarassment to my name for these guys. I know several of the creators, but not their characters)

Zippy and Bill but that is still -->50 points.

As for the not made up goll-dern agers I had the following correct

    2. The Bouncer
    3. Captain Glory
    6. The Green Giant

    Thats another --> 150 points.

For a grand smacking total of 800!

You guys musta been standing somewhere in Ohio when you tallied these points.

And yeppers, I had a blast with this. These were very clever questions.

That's the Melter with his costume miscolored.

Your score above is a typo. (Now you know why my checkbook's always off.) I'll fix it.

Don't blame Rob. I did the (ugh!) math.

Awwww... I only posted my little post for the "standing in Ohio" joke. I really do appreciate all the work you guys did to make this fun little bit of trivia so challenging. Sorry for seeming so vindictive and veng...

    <sniff><sniff> Wait a minute! Now I'm smelling a cover-up.

    Well, I'll take the win.

I lucked out on the FF covers because I believe I read an article about it in the past few years, so picked up a copy off eBay and went through the whole process of comparing the cover to the insides (noting that the likes of Patsy and Hedy actually attending the wedding).

Great quiz guys - I'll hopefully have one up later today.
