Default Sometimes A Job Can Suck

A couple of people had to be let go at work, for not doing their duties, and that sucks, becuase I have to wrap up all the odds and ends (paperwork). I have done supervisor work for years, and I have never had to fire anyone. Now I got two people who were cut loose. Feels bad. Sours the day. I lost my muse because of it. :(

Friends and family have been trying to cheer me up. People do have to do what they come to work for, and we have some people who don't do what they are suppose to do. I hated letting them go, and it killed my happy buzz. Now I got to get it back.

I once had to fire the guy who trained me.

    That really sucked.

You get over it. Drink lots of lattes and know you have done your yuppie duty.

I would have had a latte today, but decided it was best to chill and enjoy the day with no worries but making dinner (which turned out great BTW).

I am positive I will get over it. I need to go read something. Got some old comics I can run throught. I really need to start collecting again. I miss reading comics on a regular basis. Writing one has been even harder.

    Thanks. :)

I used to be an Assistant Manager at a Carmike Theatre. The General Manager was a big softie and was incapable of firing anybody. We had a guy who was just a problem child all around, all three assistants were demanding tht the GM cut the guy loose. The GM says fine, we'll fire him. Three days go by, the guy is still on the payroll. Once again all three assistants in the office with the GM demanding the guy be fired. The GM says "Okay, one of you fire him."

Needless to say, I was the meanest of the lot so it was voted that I would be the terminator for the theatre. From that point until I left the Theatre a year later, I did all of the firings. The GM and the other assistants loved it because they still got to be the good guys to the staff.

I usually felt bad about it for a couple of days afterward, unless it was someone who had been riding my last nerve and had finally done something worthy of a firing... I really relished that one, oh yes I did.

At least it wasn’t like TC Johnson situation was last Christmas. If memory not mistaken he had a third of his department let go due to economic reasons, rather than their individual levels of work ethic and competency. He and the other survivors, in addition to their survivor’s guilt, had to their jobs plus the jobs of the terminated people.

That's what I am saying. I hated doing it. It had to be done. On a postive note, I felt better last night, and started writing again, so I feel a lot better.

This is true, it could be worse. Still, it feels bad. Puts a cloud on your day, and I still have to be visible to the public, and work to help them in any way. Its a good thing my customer service skills are great.

You know its kind of funny talking to a guy with a Darth Vader avatar about job termination. With Vader you don't get a pink slip. You really get terminated. ;) Nice Avatar.

I picked a new avatar featuring a new sith lord that is far more powerful than Vader (actual power not potential) and has killed billions if not trillions more people many of them republic solders and Jedi. Say hello to Darth Mallak everybody.

I don't want to know how he handles failure. ;)

Well he had his people destory an entire planet, which contained many sith solders, after they failed to capture the Jedi Bastilla. Allthough it was for not as she, Revan, Carth, Mission, T3, Candrous and Zalbar escaped on the Ebon Hawk shortly before the Sith raised the surface of Taris with their ion lasers.

I'm trying to reform my dirty mind, but am the only one saw the title of this thread and thought. "Yes, but they usually charge extra for that."
