This issue, it's the Beyond crew versus the Space Phantom. It's a surprisingly good fight scene. The Hood's reaction is priceless, and Space Phantom's choice of shapeshifted bodies is a hoot. Deathlok and Hank Pym get great moments, and the cliffhanger ending comes out of nowhere but makes complete sense, once you think about it.

Anybody else want to see Deathlok pop up in McDuffie's FF? Or anywhere, really. He's just cool.

This has been a good, fun series so far. I loved the ending, made me laugh for about five minutes.

Such an entertaining book this is. GREAT ending.

I am so looking forward to FF. This is just the sort of stuff that would fit right in with a good FF story.

I agree that the ending was a great cliffhanger.

I really like how McDuffie's treating Hank Pym in this series. I'm starting to hope Hank will be on his scab Fantastic Four.

Totally agree here. I love the West Coast Hank who literally pulls just about anything he needs out of his hat. This is where the guy excels. I was late to pick up the series, nabbed the four issues today (well, #2 I'm waiting for) and it's been nothing but fun.

I just have to ask: how is Firebird treated in this mini-series?

She's one of my new favorites (for obvious reasons), but I'm really worried about how some writers handle her.

I'll still pick up this issue and the back issues anyways, but I didn't think it'd hurt to ask.

Competent, but other characters take center stage. Her characterization holds up to how Busiek portrayed her.

This issue was mostly a big fight scene. Nothing wrong with that, mind you. McDuffie is certainly showing more respect to Hank Pym than any creator since Busiek.

It was a nice cliffhanger. I'm looking forward to McDuffie's FF run.
The monster saved them all. And in their fear, they betrayed him. As they always have. As they always will.

    Ahhh, that's good. =]

Yeah, I think I'll pick this up either this weekend or next.

Are we any closer to getting an answer as to who's behind all this?

It's not the Beyonder? I thought that's why it was called 'Beyond'.

So, are they not fighting on the same world the Marvel heroes and villains battled in Secret Wars (I)?

What's the timeline in this book? Because Spider-Man is on Beyond World and on Earth...?

    Confused, but seeking enlightenment...

It's quite possible it's the Beyonder. It's just that he hasn't appeared as of yet and last anybody knew, the Beyonder was dead. And as far as timeline goes, it's clearly before Civil War. In Spider-Man continuity, it probably took place before The Other as Civil War happened pretty much right after The Other ended.

Actually last time we saw the Beyonder (s)he had just lost his/her physical body.... Something none other than Thanos had predicted would free him/her from the prison.

Oh, and I think I'm falling in love with Medusa. Damn that woman kicks ass.
