Default Mad Monk #2's Virgin Sacrifice

Guys, I have to say, I thought the first 6 pages of this issue crossed a line. Maybe if Wagner hadn't included the sexual element of the sacrifice, I wouldn't have been so ... disgusted. Am I the only one?

Sexual element? Some of her clothes had been unbuttoned. Many Superheroines show off more skin. She's being sacrificed to a vampire, and one that gouges huge chunks out of your neck, not one that leaves painty pinholes. You're meant to be disturbed, but I don't think she was posing in a sultry fashion or anything, she was a girl that went to a nightclub girl (hence the lack of much clothing) who had been chained to a table and some of her clothes were disheveled. I'm way more bothered by something like http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...image_big1.jpg where all laws of physics and anatomy are broken in an attempt to show both breasts and butt simultaneously when there's absolutely no reason someone should be posing like that (which is impossible) while doing something like that. You're looking too hard, IMHO, and I feel bad that you let it distract you from what's turning out to be an excellent story.

Well (shameless plug) I discussed my feelings in some depth on my blog, and I'll admit I forgot her backstory from Issue #1. But the image combined murder with hints of sexual depravity (why was her bra off? why was her skirt hitched downward a bit? why did she appear to be an adolescent in prep school clothes?) and that's pretty much where I say the story is crossing the line. I don't want to see violence of a sexual nature unless I have some idea ahead of time it's a "mature" themed comic. You make good points, though, Damo.

This story is shaping up very nicely. This is looking to be somewhat disturbing but not that disturbing. I am very interested to see how Batman deals with this test.

It wasn't that graphic. It showed the hint of sexual violence, which is not the same as "seeing" sexual violence. And sexual desire and sacrifice most of the time go hand in hand, in fiction.
