There are three ways to take this news.
1. It's true that Brad Meltzer wants Black Canary for JLA.
2. Black Canary is "quiting" the team the same way Huntress "quit" a long time back. In other words it's just part of a larger story line and Black Canary will still get plenty of screen time while she's off the time.
3. Rich got the story wrong. Don't forget he said that Black Canary was going to be a major villain one year later. While the character has changed dramatically she not joining The Society anytime soon.
The yellow light refers to Rich's style of whether or not the rumor has validity. The spoiler warning for this specific thread is in the title of the thread itself.Originally Posted by TCJohnson

Look just have someone accidentally drop her mom's body into a Laz Pit and there you go, enough Black Canary's for both books.
Dude this is DC. Stop giving them ideas!Originally Posted by Ian Boothby

I thought Canary was already announced as part of the new JLA?

Yeah, I was a bit peeved at the spoiler too. Then agian, with news about Meltzer's JLA, it was something I was suspecting anyway. Not that I like it. I sure the hell hope Gail had a say in the matter.
I know another author I liked got screwed by editorial when they thought had beter plans for the character than the author. I'm thinking of Devin on Nightwing. Yeah, it was a bit messy, but it certianly was much better than killing him or what Bruce Jones did. Plus I thought she was really turning the book around finally.
As long as Dinah doesn't sleep with Ra's to get to the Lazarus pit. What a crazy idea that wou.. nevermind.Originally Posted by Ian Boothby
Hey, I just realized BoP is one of the longest running series I have a full run of. I wish Nightwing still was, but.. ugh... I don't know if I can fill in that hole, in my collection or... my heart. (-latin guitar music plays for extra drama-)

Anyone think that with her becoming 'a villain' it might be a level of going undercover to infiltrate Shiva's lot?
I don't see why she can't be in BOP as well as JLA. Hope she stays in BOP but gets the due cred as a member of the new JLA
That was a reference to Lady Shiva, who used the name Jade Canary when she worked with the Birds of Prey one year later.Originally Posted by Lester Carthan

What lot? Shiva was booted from the League of Assassins by that pod creature masquerading as her daughter.Originally Posted by Lunar Daydreamer
Ignoring the whole Cass thing, as I don't want to start throwing furniture, how the hell is Shiva old enough to have a 19 year old? She's drawn as if she is in her twenties rather than her forties.Originally Posted by Sharpandpointies
