I heard somewhere that Warren Ellis was being considered.
Just thought I'd throw that in there.

Um, yeah, I know. I was being sardonic. It was a comment on the very notion of Scott Lobdell working on the X-Men again.Originally Posted by Darkwave

Mikl C: SAGE! Someone should press her reboot button then stomp on her head til she dies.:
Whedon was asked in an interview who he would like to replace him, and he suggested Warren Ellis.
I believe Ellis has said that he wasn't interested in doing it since he's concentrating on his own books, but I suppose he could change his mind.
I'm not too keen on Ellis taking over since I'd hate to see what he'd do to Kitty and Peter after Pryde/Wisdom.
I think that they should cancel the book or give it to Peter David. Whedons run has been a collossal bore.
Lobdell was terrible. It was guys like him the helped me to stop collecting the X-books way back when.
Colossus should get an injunction against Ellis ever coming within 100 miles of writing him again.
Kitty too. She has to be creeped out by him.
It's the beard and funky teeth. It's a natural reaction.Originally Posted by xakko

Wouldn't Pak be perfect though? Considering he seems interested in mining GM's New X-Men and Joss Whedon likes to do the same.
And yet Ellis is the only writer to have really developed either character going forward since the start of the 90s.Originally Posted by xakko
Just because he chose to to give Kitty closure on a childhood relationship you happened to care a lot for, doesn't mean it was bad writing.
Ellis Excalibur was like a shining oasis in a desert full of bland on the X-Books at the time.
Lol. I'm even a fan, and he scares the heck outta me.Originally Posted by Mariah
But others are right. While Joss hinted earlier in the year that Ellis was the kind of writer he wanted to succeed him, Ellis made it clear he wasn't interesyted. With several more expletives.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, this title is doomed to become the third X-book.
Until Marvel announce somebody big - and in all honesty I don't believe they can find somebody right now, nothing will convince me that this title isn't going to slide.
It stood out head and shoulders above Milligan's X-Men and Claremont while he tried to clean up Uncanny. But now? When you've got two seriously taleted writers on those two book, producing seriously epic feeling stories in the same numer of issues it takes for Whedon to stretch a two parter concept, and twice as fast, astonishing just pales in comparison. By the time Astonishing peters out it's going to need something pretty bloody amazing to get it going again.
And I just don't know what that'll be.
Marvel announce Whedon moving to Runaways when the book is done, but not yet who will be going the other way. It may be 7 months away, but on a title they seem to think is this big it needs a decision this early.
I wouldn't expect a big name, or a quality name. Expect somebody like Jeph Loeb, Marvel seem to rate him right now. I don't. But there ya go.
