    Default What is this movie??????!!!!!

Okay. Not much to go on here, so it's not an easy challenge. Years ago (about six, I think) I caught a few minutes of a movie on TV, and I keep thinking about it every once in a while, but I just can't figure it out.

Some people go to an alternate universe where things seem perfect. I remember that cars were communal property and all of them were little and white. You'd just drive a car to work, park it, someone would take it home, and then whenever you leave, you'd go out and get into the first one you saw. The catch was very Lottery-esque: there was a regular drawing, and the identity of the person was announced on live TV. Then everyone watching would grab their mettle clubs (marked with either a diamond, heart, club, or spade at the end) and go and beat the person.

I'm pretty sure it was made-for-TV. What was it???
I've got a great idea. How about we keep blaming the other party. Yeah. That's healthy.

It sounds like it was based on Shirely Jackson's classic short story, "The Lottery." Are you sure it was a movie and not either a PBS special or an episode of AMAZING STORIES?

That's why I described it as Lottery-esque. But to answer your q:

    No; I'm not sure.

Sounds like an episode of Twilight Zone or Tales from the Crypt.
Dean: So, what do we do now?
Castiel: I suggest we imbibe copious quantities of alcohol... just wait for the inevitable blast wave.
