I agree, one of the best Marvel movies, if not the best. Awesome movie. Marvel Studios gave us such a strong solid opening. I didn't stay for the credits, but kick myself now as I heard what I missed.

One little nit-picky thing I want to throw out there. They mention Tony Stark's dad Howard Stark, who designed weapons in WWII. That's exactly how it is in the comics but wouldn't he be too old to be Tony's dad? The math just doesn't work. That would make Tony like 50 something. Unless Tony was born when Howard was like 60, which isn't impossible but, you know.

I know it's stupid but that one little thing really bothered me.

Oh and I totally geeked out when I heard "You can call us ______" Best movie line of the year.

And they played Black Sabbath. YEAAAHHH!!!!!!!!!

And like Michael Bay's Transformers, tying in with the US Military was beneficial because it adds a lot of realism to the story.
Transformers ... realism ... cannot compute. Assertion denied.

YES. I wouldn't normally ruin it for you, but since it was already mentioned here earlier - you get to see Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury; better yet, he has the "official" last line of the movie, which may be the most geekgasmic last line of a film EVER - just wait and see!

I saw it last night, and I'm seeing it again today!!! Between this, "Dark Knight", "Hulk", and "WANTED" (which I'm particularly excited about, since it's one of my top 5 TPBs), this summer is going to be EPIC!

Not bad at all but the script lacked a certain something especially as it definitely felt like the plot had been stretched out & stretched out pretty thin in places to fill the running time. But the generally good acting from the main cast & the attempt to do a more 'realistic' superhero film somewhat made up for this.

So overall not bad but could have better if they had put more elements in the plot.

The suit was very well done & certainly was an effective rendering of the suit into the 'real' world.

The scene after the credits was probable one of the better ones & it wasn't even in the main film.

I dunno, I thought it made a refreshing change for a superhero movie to not have been overloaded by a bunch of different storylines all crammed in together *cough*Spider-Man 3*cough*.

I AM (writing) IRON MAN: The Screenwriters

If you’ve been following CBR’s interviews with the cast and crew of "Iron Man," you know just about everyone said they helped write the movie. Now see what the actual screenwriters have to say about the Marvel film.

I saw it today.By far the best Marvel movie(beside x-men trilogy).Robert Downey jr did an amazing job as Tony Stark. And for the first time,i'm completely satisfied with a comic book movie romance.Tony/Peppers relation was handled well.I hope Hulk would be as good as this movie.

I didn't stay after the credits to see SLJ as Nick Fury as I didn't know if it but that movie itself was pretty damn amazing. It was much better than what I projected it'd be. It had top notch acting, some damn good special effects, and a hell of a lot of action. It was especially good seeing Stark go from being a prick to a hero and Downey was damn entertaining, kept me interested all the way through.

    Downey was perfect.

The rest of the movie . . . decent, but nothing special. It was a mixed bag in terms of action sequences (the dogfight worked great, but the big finale was a bust). Jeff Bridges looked like he was having fun hamming it up, but Terrence Howard was criminally underused. There were lots of little in-jokes for comic fans, some of which worked ("Ten Rings") and some of which didn't (the running gag with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s name).

But, again, Downey was perfect. He carries the movie on sheer force of personality. Sitting in that theater, none of the movie's flaws sank in because I was just hooked on his performance.

    Overall . . . B+, give or take.
