Robert Downey Jr is one of the single most gifted actors of our time. Iron Man is going to ROCK. Seeing it 2x this weekend, taking Dad first then going with friends the next day. Of course I could take Dad with some of my buddies but then I wouldn't get to see it twice.

I'll be seeing Iron Man with my 7 1/2-year-old son tomorrow night. I don't know who's more excited, him or me?

Anyone who's seen it, is there anything I should be worried about taking him to see this? I know it's rated M, but nothing I've seen in any of the trailers or previews suggests anything that would be particularly troubling. He's already seen Batman Begins and the three Spider-Man movies, if that helps.

If you let him watch Batman Begins (and planning on letting him do the same with The Dark Knight), there should be nonthing really bothersome for you here, BB and TDK are probably about as disturbing as mainstream PG-13 superhero movies are going to get at this point.

Tony's still a womanizer but I don't think your son will have to worry about seeing naked women crawling around Stark's mansion.

Saw it yesterday on México, a very nice decent movie, it is obvious that this is the set up for a thousand movies Marvel is intending to do, it feells exactly like when you read a very good first issue of a new series, and by the end you are left waiting for the next issue... only we will have to wait a little longer than a month....RD Jr is iron man.... there are scenes in comic book movies when the actor stamps his image and becomes the comic book charachter for eternity...like Hugh Jackman is Wolverine, or Christopher reeve is Superman... like Tobey McGuire is Spiderman, and jack Nicholson is the Joker, and people all over the world see the actor and they don´t say the name of the actor... they say-.... look, there goes Spiderman.... like that... well RD Jr is Iron Man... for eternity, Pepper nice, the relationship... nice, not corny and ridiculous like Peter and MJ, believable...Jarvis is in the movie,... and a certain Agency is also in the movie indeed... and well, to the comic geek side of us... spoilers in spanish so you don´t complain....

    And that is sooooo coool.

Well... there's a scene on a plane where the flight atendants become some sort of stripers with a pole and all,... but they are fully dressed, and there is a scene where Tony hooks up with a girl and we see her in bed... but no skin shows.

Lot´s of alcohol though.... but is Tony Stark... so we should expect that... seting up his alcohol problems for the secuel I think.

And wait for the credits to end.

Do you think Iron Man is the only Superhero on the Earth?.... well all I can say is that he is about to enter a whole new Universe.

Just wait until the end of the credits

Saw it last night when it premiered in Trinidad. This is one of the best films Marvel has put out to date. Everything works. Stay until after the credits.

It's like Audi R8 porn. Which is no bad thing (Or at least, it wouldn't be, if I didn't keep seeing the bloody things on the road, taunting me. Taunting me.).

I figured "that scene" would be after the credits, but I was thinking

    spoilers:
that the battle with Iron Monger would interupt the battle between Hulk and Abomination, and Ross would tell Stark to try and take Stane out of the city, as there "dealing with another problem"
    end of spoilers

Downey played Stark as a man-child with responsibility, sarcastic, fun, unattached, aloft, knew what he was and loved every inch of what he was doing. Downey IS Tony Stark, there is no doubt in anyone's mind when they see this

The opening fifteen or twenty minutes are probably some of the greatest Marvel movie sequences of all time, and out of all the origins, the best since Peters in Spider-Man...and it likely tops even that. It is, quite litterally, Stan Lee done justice on the screen.

Only cons were that it was rushed, lack of an alcholism angle, groaned at some of the less subtle slapstick humour, the blonde reporter felt important, but became a face in the crowd, Stane was a 1980s villain with some extra moustache twirling etc...

    Best moments

    spoilers:
    Opening twenty minutes
The "Robocop" style humour attached to some of the gags, minus any blood spilling
Iron Monger's rampage smashing through the SHEILD agents
The direction that makes you think Stane knows what Peggy is up to, right up until he sees the "download complete" screen and says "shit"
Stark's "the weapon you only have to fire once" speech
The two press conferences he held (the "love-in" and "I am Iron Man" conferences)
    Stark against the Jets
    The battle with Iron Monger
Rhodes picking the car over the Silver armour model ("next time baby") l
    end of spoilers

Pepper was more like the kind of Marvel women I like, she's loyal, she cares, but she's going to hold the small things against you. Reminded me more of "classic" Mary Jane despite it being a different character, would've preferred this actress and this kind of writing in Spider-Man.

Marvel's finest movie since Spider-Man 2, and that took a long time in my opinion.

    Awesome. I loved it.

I don't think it was rushed at all, it was perfectly paced.
Robert Downey Jr nailed the part completely. It's like this is what he's born to do. I love how he managed to be a prick but also likeable. The rest of the cast was good too.
    Edited:
Now that I think of it, Gwyneth Paltrow is suprisingly really good in her role. I'm quite annoyed with MJ damsel in distress act in Spidey movies, but Paltrow's Pepper is likeable and have good chemistry with Downey's Stark.

I agree that the origin story was probably one of the best. Stark friendship wih Yinsen was good and touching.

Fantastic special effect, and I like the way Tony build his armor slowly.

If I had one complaint, I think the final battle was lacked punch a bit.
    spoilers:

In the movie, Tony had make do with a reserve battery for the armor because Stane steal the one he used. Hence, his ability was limited and he had to use a bit of wit to defeat him. I supposed that's still consistent with his character, I think it would be cooler if we have a full blown up punch out between the two of them
    end of spoilers

hehehe.. I'm rambling a bit here.. but it's a good movie overall. Go watch it!

None of that should be a problem. I'm sure he sees a lot worse on Video Hits every Sunday morning. Thanks for the info.
