    http://www.comicbookresources.com/ne...em.cgi?id=8490

Upper Deck's VS gaming system has proven quite popular, featuring Marvel and DC characters and allowing players to recreate famous battles. We spoke with Art Director Mark Irwin about the art on the cards, how he gets so many big name creators and have a huge gallery for you.

Glad you enjoyed it. I've read the rule book and bought some of the cards, and the art always blew me away.

I don't play it, but I'm definitely going to get a set of the Legion expansion! I was hoping to find a date for it's release.

Anyone here play the game? I want to get the Legion expansion, and I have some of the first DC release, but I was curious if we had any players here on CBR.

Default Marvel VS CCG Original Art!

    Hey Arune,

Great article featuring the artwork on the VS CCG cards! :) As a collector of comics-related original artwork, I've found that the originals to these and other trading cards are relatively affordable compared to other published comic art and they are wonderful pin-up pieces worthy of framing.

If interested in viewing the original artwork to some of Bryan Hitch's VS cards including Human Torch, Thing and Shang-Chi, I have them displayed here:

Thing (FF VS Set) - http://tinyurl.com/ay69u
Human Torch (FF VS Set) - http://tinyurl.com/dh2l3

I also have artwork from various other trading card sets spread throughout my collection of original comic art which can be seen at -

Hope you enjoy checking out the artwork :) Regards,

Royd, I'd love to buy some of that from some of those artists, such as the X-Men piece by James Jean in the article.

    Hi Arune,

That James Jean X-Men piece is stunning! I visited James' website - http://jamesjean.com/ where I located the illo and where James shows you the process from prelim sketch through to finished creation. Just check the link on the left titled Illustration where you'll find a link for X-Men and you'll see numbers at the top showing the creative process for that piece - fascinating stuff!

By the way, as a result of your article (thanks very much), I've contacted a couple of artist friends from those listed and asked about which characters they've illustrated for upcoming VS sets and whether the originals are available for sale :) Warm regards,

    Royd
