Default Tony, The Illuminati and Cap... They wouldn't, would they? (Post CW#4 spoilers/spec)

With the retroactive "Iron Dickery" going on, I was thinking...

Finding Cap proved awfully convenient for the Avengers, who might have disbanded otherwise.

So... I was thinking about a stunt Marvel could pull and how you would react...

Do you suppose that Tony found Steve Rogers somewhere else and placed him in the iceburg for Namor (and subsequently the Avengers) to find?

Do you suppose the real Steve Rogers died in World War II and that Tony cloned him and planted him somewhere for his fledgling team to find in order to unite them?

With the clone bit out of the bag and taking the Illuminati planning back quite a ways, I was wondering if Marvel might reach back further and make Cap's initial inclusion in the Avengers PART of a conspiracy and reveal "the truth" in shock fashion as this story builds....

That's some damn effective cloning there if it's true...

Doesn't make sense, because "current" Steve has all his memories. If the original were dead, there wouldn't have been any "template" to build the memories off of. As it stands now, they couldn't make a Thor Clone with all -his- memories intact (then again, they probably didn't want to since the "original" Thor probably wouldn't have supported their cause).

The only way it'd have worked is if A: Tony was in World War II...which he wasn't, and B: Strange, Iron Man, Reed, and Xavier all working together to pull off some kind of "spirit/memory" transfer.

So that kind of blows the clone thing out of the water, since Tony would have barely known those guys by that time...he'd only been Iron Man a few weeks/months!

Likewise the "finding Cap/Arranging for him to be found" bit. Tony had only been a superhero for a -very- short time, and "finding" Cap would have been nigh-impossible...especially since he likely wouldn't even know to look for him!

That, and if any/all of it were true, Tony's entry in the "Civil War Files" on Cap would almost certainly have hinted at some/all of it.

Not really. Just making sure no one else does, either. ;)

What if Namor was in on it?

Cap is actually a mental construct created by Xavier just to screw with everyone.

Tony's not the only one who's randomly turned evil in the past year, ya know?
