I want to read this. I've seen several, random scans and the story and dialogue seems really interesting. I was captivated by it really, so I hope to track down those digests (love digests btw!--except for the removal of panels/words)
asmus / wood / spurrier
pichelli / molina / bachalo / del mundo / immomen
ult comics x-men . arena .legacy . uncanny . all new . flagship
I liked the series overall. The first and last arc especially did a lot to portray how Emma turned into the cold bitch she is today. If I lived the life she lived, I'd become a villain too (maybe more easily than she did too!). Her upbringing was problematic and twisted, her father one of the most hateable characters ever, and the events in the last issue were the final blow to any intention of her being a good girl.
It was the second arc that didn't do much for me, not to mention that they killed that hottie Troy![]()
The second arc wasn't originally planned, and I think it showed in quality. I also think that arc is why so many people left the book. It got back to good quality with the third and especially the fourth arcs.
im assuming you're gonna accuse me of being homophobic now so just get on with it already:rolleyes:Originally Posted by rilokyle
I loved the series at first. The ending was pretty good but wasn't really an ending at all. It seemed like he was hoping they would pick it up again and he'd keep going...
As for Emma being a b*ith. It wasn't her family. She learned a thing or two from them but they take the cake on evil, especially compared to her future White Queen days. The real hatred for humanity and the turning evil was due to the loved ones in her life leaving her in some way. She was a strong person, being able to stand up to someone like her dad and sister, but losing the people she cared about shattered her like a diamond bullet. The first person she cared about(after going it alone) died and used(with her concent... at first) for making him money so he could pay off his debt. The second... well I know your not done yet so I'm not gonna completely ruin it for you... but yeah... men aren't the greatest to her... When you finish the series I'll try and explain it more without ruining the whole damn thing.........
thank you for not spoiling it and i really wish christian would have popped up in generation x like the rest of her siblings.Originally Posted by HellFrost

That thing you said about assuming he died of aids was moronic and wrongfully stereotypying.
Also, Emma is anything but ashamed of the one person who cared for her in her enitire family.
But it's all good as long as you don't do it again... and I am serious.
the curious thing is the continuity is sort of questionable since generation x covers the time she was homeless and she met dark beast, and also decided to use her powers to become rich and none of that is covered here.
In a way she did. Although it was a retcon, it could be assumed that she used him as her "cover story" in the Gen X special. I do wonder if she ever actually got him out though.Originally Posted by curefreak
ok again the only reason i asked if he got aids was since emma never talks about him and we havent seen him since then i just asked i didnt even assume.Originally Posted by HellFrost
its not like i said anything truly closed minded.
im pretty sure ive not read the issue youre talking about.Originally Posted by HellFrost
did you find it ironic that the covers for when she was a teenager show a grown up emma and then when she finally becomes an adult the covers show a teenage emma now?
...from a gay males(or any other homosexual individuals) point of view... it sounded it. But I understand that not everything comes out right over the internet.......................................... ...........Originally Posted by curefreak
Anyway, the reason he isn't brought up by her is most likely because of his being retconned into existence so early on still(kinda...?) and no writer really has plans for him and most likely doesn't want to offend any gay reader or... well, Emma fan in general by using the wrong choice of words... you have experience in that field don't you? jk jk
im sorry if what i said was offensive i really did not mean to and thank you for trying to understand my meaning.Originally Posted by HellFrost
even tho i had a feeling it would be taken the wrong way (yet i still posted it when will i ever learn)and if people knew me im pretty far from being homophobic since i have two best friends who are gay
and i had a best friend for over 10 years that was gay
and sometimes i find its easier to get along with gay men than straight guys where i live.
i hope this also doesnt come out badOriginally Posted by HellFrost
but didnt you find it a little funny that she didnt know he was gay from the first issue when he put on her makeup? (and did it so well too)i assumed when i read that that she already knew and then a few issues later she finds out by reading his mind and shes shocked !
