It takes a lot to offend me but after watching "War at Home" last night I kind a feel offend when the "dad" took his kid and friend to a comic convention. Did anyone see that last night?

Nope, didn't see it. Though I can't say i'd be terribly surprised, shocked or even all that concerned if an at best averge quality sitcom portrays comic fans in a bad light. I mean this sort of thing happens all the time and no number of speeches by Kevin Smith, comic book based blockbusters, or celebrities talking about their love of comics is going to change the geek stygma our awesome hobby has.
I've got a problem with it too. It sucks.

What offended you? Was it the fact that the dad was made to look like an ass for how he treated his kid's hobby? That show is not good, but last night was definately presenting the dad as being in the wrong.
I'm amazed this show is still on the air. A friend saw a peek of the pilot last year, and told me how onerous it was, and how it had to be one of the earliest fatalities of the season; but here it is! I guess crap floats.

I caught a few minutes of it last year, and thought, "Ben was right." I haven't gone back, and only recently found out it was still on.

Its ratings suck and, mainly, it loses practically all of Family Guy's demographic lead-in.Originally Posted by Ontir

Methinks this is the sign that it's not much longer for the world.
Fair enough. I figured you had, but since it's the internet I figured I'd check.
It's definately not good, but among recent sitcoms I'd say it's top three. Then again I can only name five. The other four are THE OFFICE, MY NAME IS EARL, HAPPY HOUR and THE CLASS. And those last two are without question the worst shows I've ever seen.
I've not seen the Class, but want to because Jason Ritter is on it, and I like him. Happy Hour has the guy from the Volkswagon commercial, and I like him, and didn't think the show was that bad, just overly boozy. I can't get into the Office, no matter how much I love Steve Carel and Rainn Wilson. I enjoy My Name is Earl when I see it, but it conflicted with Smallville or something last year, so I've only seen it a few times. I still love Two and a Half Men though. and am really looking forward to Help Me Help You with Ted Danson.

Well 1st off is how the "father" had a cow about taking them to the convention almost ballingOriginally Posted by Josh S

3th it was the "geekfast" way they did it, I mean I have been to a lot of conventions and never seen anyone that "geeky" in my life
4th For someone who played a comicbook type movie before you would figure
the actor might have a idea that it was way overbroad on the conventions' overacting on the subject of the nornal comicbook fan
But I guess your right the idea of the show was that having nothing to do if your kid's hobby is suppose to be funny and that all comic fans are 98lb geeks.
Which is BLATANTLY wrong!!! Most are like 250lbs and up. :rolleyes:Originally Posted by GreenHornet

Let's not forget How I Met Your Mother. I got into it through reruns over the summer, and I was kicking myself for not watching it last year. It was surprisingly good, and Neil Patrick Harris flat-out steals every scene he's in. Doogie who?Originally Posted by Ontir
