To be fair I think that had more to do with Marvel being bought by Disney and it became tricky about who should get the rights to the cartoon.

That said they still should've fixed it because Spectacular Spider-man was awesome. One of the best superhero cartoons I've ever seen.

The Venom episode's were fantastic!
And the Symbiote taking a sleeping Spidey and beating up the 6? Brilliant. It reminded me of Guyver's auto-mode and it was even similar to the comics with the Symbiote taking Spidey web slinging at night.
Spidey was funny, the villains were awesome, Sandman was actually cool, etc.
Truly a great hero show.

I really like how they made some creative descisions to make certain villains that were kind of lame in the comics into badasses in the cartoon. I am of course speaking mainly of Tombstone.
They weren't allowed to use the Kingpin so instead they took one of Spidey's C-list villains and made him awesome.
And I could just go on and on about how everything in this series was great. The supporting cast, the stories, the fluid animation and EVERYTHING!

OH man Tombstone, that guy took Spidey apart in their fight. That was seriously awesome and I also liked Doc Ock's new origin.
Harry being alive harkened back to the good old days of Spidey too.
Norman was a dick. No change there.
The best part? NO MEPHISTO!
