    Default Project CBRunway: Feedback Thread

    Welcome back to the runway!

Here's your opportunity to provide feedback, ask questions, offer constructive criticism, etc. on Project CBRunway. Not on the designs, but on the competition itself.

Did you enjoy the challenges? The format? The timing? The voting process?

Let me know. All feedback will be taken into consideration before announcing the next season of Project CBRunway.

I thought it was a blast. I thought the last competition which had five characters was a little much. But, I don't know how long it takes most people to draw and it was the last week so it's really not a big deal.

I think it'd be neat if the person with the most votes each round got to pick the subject for the next round. Or at least you could give them a list of possibilities and let them pick from the list.

    I loved it.

Every last second. I kind of wished that more men could be redesigned but otherwise the pics and the challenges were wonderful. How do you make an icon out of an already iconic look? How do you keep a man the same man while changing his outward appearance? HOW THE HELL DO YOU REDESIGN THOR?!

I loved it all. I will be joining next round and I think a LOT of people will be, making it much more of a challenge and I think a lot more fun. Season One was great and I think next term will be just FABULOUS.

I liked it alright, though I think a little more diversity and creativity would be great for the next go around. After the first challenge all the other challenges were basically redesigning major superheroes, so it was all similar, you know?

But I had a great time doing them and would definitely compete in the next one if there is one.

Yeah, I'd say the only thing the contest needs is a bit of diversity.

Still, I had a blast watching Season One.

Definitely thought the entire idea was excellent. And it was carried out beautifully. I especially liked how it forced those involved to produce more artwork, because I know I've been aching for people like atoning and Veggie to show more stuff.

Definitely want to join in on the next "season" as well.

    Just a few things:

    1) Give the participants some input into the timing. The Sunday deadline really worked against me the entire time. If the deadline had been Monday I could have posted much better stuff.

    2) Don't have the voting be by poll. Have it be in the thread and encourage people say why they chose what they chose. The feedback was always more interesting than the outcome of the vote- but few of the voters gave feedback. Well, except if they're gonna say that you made men look too gay. they can keep that to themselves. ;)

    3) Next time collect a bunch of ideas for challenges ahead of time. Having a larger pool of challenges to draw from is always good- it gives you a chance to find a challenge that challenges everyone. I thought the only two challenges that challenged everyone were the plant challenge and the Power Girl challenge.

    Some ideas for challenges:
Superman joins the Green Lantern Corps. Design his GLC uniform.
Redesign character X as a manga character.
Create a Golden Age Superhero. For the next challenge have each designer be assigned one of the other designers' characters and have to create the Silver Age version.
Write out a proposal for a new character and have each designer pitch their version to you.
Create a new Jack Kirby-inspired design. (that really is a lot of fun)
Have a Haute Couture challenge. Designers would be instructed to redesign a character in a manner as outlandish and impractical as possible.

    4) Have it in the spring or fall instead of the summer.

Interesting suggestions, though I disagree about the voting in the thread. I would love to hear more feedback of course as we all would, but I personally think that would be a pain to keep track of.

Hate to resurrect an old thread (well, no, not really...) but I wanted to solicit additional feedback and suggestions in anticipation of this spring's Project CBRunway 2. Thoughts or suggestions on any aspect of the competition, including possible challenge ideas, are welcome!

I was just looking over Chad's suggestions, and I saw the Superman as GL idea and thought maybe we could even try a more general challenge:

-Pick any either D-List or Limbo character and redesign them as a GL. Then include somewhat of a backstory to reveal why they were picked for the GLC.

This also made we think that when choosing challenges we should probably only do two types:

-Very specific guidelines, such as character, elements, situation, etc, so as to focus more on how creative artists can be with that character.
-General guidelines, such as just situation, so as to focus more on overall creativity based on which characters are picked, how creative they are with said character, and how creative they can back-up/support their choice for the character.

Otherwise, I like how the last one was run.

    Some challenge suggestions are:
-Choose a character from the Legion of Superheroes and redesign them as a marvel character.
-On the opposite side, choose a character from the Imperial Guard and redesign them as a DC character.
-Repower a decimation mutant, design their new look and explain how they were repowered.

Well, there was the Lady Death challenge last year. There'll be at least one non-superhero challenge; more if we have enough participants. Same goes for original characters like last year's plant challenge.

Here's last year's thread, which includes links to the individual challenge threads.
