It's true, he thinks they are atrocious. (Much like his ability to be clear and direct in speaking/vocalizing).

"I can't complain. I got to be Jim Morrison for the first half of my life, and Ward Cleaver for the second half." - Warren Zevon.
He's full of BS, but that's his right.
Ha ha, that's funny. He's probably my favorite artist of all time, but even I will admit that those comments are kind of amusingly ridiculous.
On another note, a Rolling Stone with Dylan on the cover? Glad I get that magazine for free!
EDIT: I would agree, though, that sometimes modern recordings make it too easy, and I hate when a band sounds good on the record and horrible live.
Praise be to Nero's Neptune,
The Titanic sails at dawn,
And everybody's shouting,
"Which Side Are You On?"
And Ezra Pound and T. S. Eliot,
Fighting in the captain's tower,
While calypso singers laugh at them,
And fishermen hold flowers.Between the windows of the sea,
Where lovely mermaids flow,
And nobody has to think too much,
About Desolation Row.
Well, an LP in perfect condition will always sound better than a CD. Maybe that's what he's referring to. Although I would never be able to replace my CD's with records, I would much rather listen to an LP than a CD.

If you're not on Dylan's wavelength, you're not going to get him. That's always been true; no reason for him to change now that he's an AARP member.
I agree with him. In fact, we've been talking about this very thing in Ilash's Jeff Buckley thread.
Exactly (on both counts). What rankles about the notion that Dylan is "unclear" is that I've never had any problem understanding the words of the songs on his records. As we've discussed before, he's got great phrasing and tonal control.Originally Posted by Jonathan Bogart

I'd rather listen to a CD on a high quality stereo, or even *gasp* an MP3 on an excellent pair of headphones, than listen to a record. I guess it's because CDs are what I've grown up around, but I rarely prefer an LP to a CD.
There is definitely a difference between a digital and a analog sound.
It is also pretty clear that unless a person has spent a good deal of their life listening to analog they probably will not notice the difference.
But the difference is there.
Dylan in his rather off way, does have a point.
Tonal control meaning he MEANS to sound like a cat in heat when he sings?Originally Posted by leonaozaki

You either haven't heard a cat in heat or you haven't heard Bob Dylan. Maybe you're thinking of Jimmy Page?Originally Posted by Valmore
