The first image was during when Marvel was using Malibu for separations. Needless to say, they kind of f-ed up a lot of the colorists work.

The second image was after the original colorist left and when they started coloring her darker.

The third image actually does have her colored lighter than Synch.

Was anyone debating that she isn't as dark as she had been portrayed in the past? I thought that was a gimme. I'm just a bit baffled how Jeromy Cox's Monet went from a slightly darker Monet to a relatively lighter one. I'm curious to know what the the reason for that was.

She's obviously is still being portrayed as a woman of color though.

OH I Didnt think you were saying she isnt a woman of color.....but her and synch were colored the same in a lot of issues, people just dont give her the color she deserves

Do you think Monet's personality has shifted since her time in Generation X? I have heard people say that she is being portrayed differently than she has been. I honestly do not see it, but was curious what you all thought.

She seems more mature, but still has her inner bitch
In the Gen X days, some of the conflicts were more Juevenile
The later Gen X days has shown growth, expecially in the last few
The way she's drawn now too, she looks more adult

I believe she is dark, but not as dark as Synch. I also don't think she is meant to be "black" in the strictest sense of the word. She is meant to be Northern African which is a different ethnicity all-together. I think that is what I'm debating for: her more mediterranean and arabic features that have at times been taken away from her by some of the posters (and artists). She has a unique heritage from other characters and I don't want that stolen from her.

While I miss Raimondi's X-Factor, Valentine De Landro is doing a bang up job. I certainly would love to see Pablo come back, but I have to say that De Landro is actually much better with the action shots. Sometimes Raimondi's action scenes came off a bit stiff. Especially some of the M scenes in his last arc.

She doesn't have the sophistication and classy wit that she had in the GenX books. I miss that - her "above it all" aire. She also doesn't have the dazzling intellect and vocabulary that seemed such an integral part of her character at the time. Someone said she seems more "mature" now. I disagree, I think she seems more petty now and more vulgar.

her being black wouldve been unique as hell amoung the xmen, lately her african side has been very downplayed and i for one would like to see it return, as for her maturity well the first time we saw M she was made up of 28year olds

Not so much petty and vulgar, but well, she's grown up.
She's not the teen she once was. Maybe being in a school setting had more reason for her to use her smarts.
