    Default The Dark Knight movie

I was reading SFX magazine today and i saw in their Develpment Hell section that they have Henry Cobblepot The Penguin himself in the new movie too!!!! He's British and he's and illegal arms dealer or something and has some problems with a mob boss of Gatham City. I figure he'll end up suppling Joker with some weapons that treaten the city or something cool like that.

I think Bob Hoskins would be a good Penguin.

How accurate is this? Nolan himself said that the least they have done is talk about the film and that htey aren't going to do anything until he finishes the movie that he's working on now.

I'll take that. The Batman Boards I belong to, along with this one, have been calling Penguin as the arms dealer for a while. And Bob Hoskins would make a great Penguin.

Nolan may not be working on the movie itself right now, but what's to stop the producers from casting? That's right. Nothing.

I'll bet he's collaborating with his Producers via phone calls and such on the side while majorally working on the movie he's involved with now.

I've written these spoilers a million times, but for anyone who wants to know, this is what I've heard...

    spoilers:
There are 2 sequals planned. The first will follow Wayne trying to bring the Joker in with the help of Harvey Dent. It ends with Joker being brought to court where he splashes acid over Dent.
The second film is about Batman (and maybe Robin) going after Two-Face
    end of spoilers
IIRC, the info was supplied by IGN FilmForce.

SFX's news is pretty much always out of date and they rarely have any scoops.

If it hasn't been reported elsewhere, I'd mark it as more idle speculation.

Besides I think Nolan's got his hands full with The Prestige right now and any serious movement on the next Batman movie is still some time away.

Even if this is just some idea floating around in one of the producer's heads, I quite like it. Penguin deserves a Scarecrow-sized subplot in the films, but not much more.

Once the Dick Sprang days were over, Penguin ceased to be any real threat. Big fat idiot with a gas-spewing umbrella. The comics kept him viable by turning him into a Kingpin-Lite crimeboss, but even then he's more of a nuisance than a real threat.
