    Default Civil War #3 *spoilers*

This issue moved along so fast, I still can't believe so much stuff happened.

As you may have heard by now, Thor shows up the end with a wicked lightning strike aimed at Hercules. And he's pro-registration too. Marvel is going to have to explain to me how he got here from when we last saw DB pick up the hammer in FF #438.

And, over at Newsarama, they just debuted both the full McNiven and Turner covers to Civil War #4. Crazy stuff.

I just bought the issue during my lunch break and have to get back to work now. When I get around to it, I'll write a full synopsis.

I loved the scene with Emma Frost and Tony Stark.

"Where were the Avengers when Genosha burned?"

Aesome stuff. the last page to was cool, I would love to see how SHIELD convinced Thor to be on their side.

Maybe Thor is really Hawkeye, or with Mjolnir Thor is still dead, but the person that holds the hammer gets the power. I really dont see one reason over another why Thor or Hercules would even involve themselves in Civil War.

Civil War is starting to make me get confused and even doubt my initial pro cap choice. Now he is starting to come off to me as some spoil sport that wants to be able to run around in the costume and do wht he wants. Think Marvel needs to definitely create a much better reason for cap on the run. Cus making people that want to be heroes work and train with Shield doesnt sound that bad. And I havent read anywhere where it says if you have super powers you have to work for Shield. The hero could retire if they wanted to with no questions asked.

Why would a super hero like Cap retire? The reason he is on the run is so he can do what he has always done and protect America. He has no desire to retire.

Also, why in the hell would Thor be Pro-Reg he is not even an American, like T'Challa he needs to stay the hell out. Let's just hope the Sentry is Anti-Reg and we get the Sentry Thor showdown we have all wanted since New Avengers!

So beyond that revelation, which makes absolutely no freaking sense, what else happens?

How does the actual fight work up and occur?

The 4 heros in disguise at the restraunt (Cap, DD, Falcon, Herclues) get a distress call and the resistance goes to help rescue people. Cable starts realizing something is wrong. The place they are at is a division of Stark Enterprises. It's a trap. Two YA's get tranq'd and the Pro-Reg team shows up. Iron Man is trying to get Cap to talk to him for 5 minutes, let him explain what he wants to do. Cap pretends to shake his hand, instead he puts somekind of scrambler on IM's hand. Battle starts from there.

The conversation between Stark and Emma was awesome. And underscores why she's one of my favourite heroines. Why is a woman like that doing with a looser like Cyclops. Come on Emma! Where are your standards?

Oh I completely agree--and I picked it up with the 1st issue. That's a big glaring omission/plot hole and it ruins the story. Captain America is one big Prima Donna.

I'll try and recall this from my memory. Cap and the other anti-reg heroes get a distress transmission from "base" that something is going down and innocent lives are in danger. Complete with new secret identities provided by Nick Fury, Cap, Hercules, Goliath, and Daredevil roar into action.

When they get to the actual building/warehouse/whatever, other anti-reg heroes have arrived. Someone makes a comment that this is too wierd or something, then suddenly Cable spots a grate on the floor that says Stark Industries and then comes the requiste "ITS A TRAP!" yell. Iron Man and his whole "team" arrive on the scene and at first simply want to reason with Cap and call a truce. Iron Man puts his hand out for a handshake, and Cap complies, only he planted some type of electronic device provided by Nick Fury (I think) to use in case Iron Man "went over to the other side". This puts Iron Man out of commission and all hell breaks loose. Everyone is fighting when Iron Man regains his composure and starts to beat the hell out of Cap saying something like, "Its no use Steve, I've got all your fighting abilities programmed into my armor, I know what your every move is". Hercules yells out "THEY'RE GOING TO KILL HIM!" or something to that effect and he charges towards Iron Man and Cap. BTW, during this whole fight scene, the pro-registration forces keep mentioning "Operation: Lightingstrike" (i think that's what they call it). At this point, someone gives the signal to initiate Operation Lightningstrike and then BOOM! A lightning bolt shocks Hercules (and probably kills him!), and then there is the panels with shocked and surprised facial expressions, then on the last page, the big reveal, Thor holding it down with the Pro Registration forces.

Thor would never side with Tony over Steve. He respected Tony but doesn't really like him. He admires Steve. Captain America is a mere mortal that Thor believes the gods themselves should aspire to. That is a lot. Even if Cap was in the wrong, Thor would likely have his back.

I'd like to see what B.S. explaination we get for this one.

You ever think maybe its a mortal that is weilding the power of Thor rather then Thor himself? That could explain the pro reg side. Maybe the whole DB was meant to throw us off. I think it would be cool if Hawkeye turned out to be Thor.

    Default Caps stance: my impression.

Cap's contention is a simple one (though I admit I haven't seen it explored) where do you stop if you allow something like this? First they'll register people who want to use their powers, what's to stop them from saying well we need to know about every super on earth, and come to think of it if you have a black belt you better register, oh yea and if you used to be in the milatary we need to know where you are too and so. Until one day they say "Hell lets keep track of everyone. Because everyone is a potential threat." And that thinking is un-American to a lot of people's sensibilites.

I think it would be cheap to advertise this as the return of Thor (for all intents and purposes) and have it turn out to be someone else.

Well I am wondering if Thor is not just coming down as a mediator. It makes no sense for him to be with Tony, and also why return now what has compelled him? The back story on Thor will be very interesting in the coming weeks.
