I think the's book will come out sometime in early 2007. Jeph Loeb is writing, and I believe the story is going to be deal with Mary Jane and Gwen Stacy, other than that I have no idea. I'm not sure if it has been stated rather it is going to be a standalone, or ongoing title.

UPDATE: Wow, someone revived this very old thread for some reason. Well the book obviously didn't come out in early 2007, as I had originaly heard. I believe it's still in the works, and somehow I bet it will tie into Brand New Day in some way. I know it was mentioned somewhere that it will take place in the core Spiderman books, but as you can see above, things at Marvel do not always stick with the original plan.

Don't forget it's also going to have the classic villians.

:D HA! Remember this? J. Scott Campbell was working on a special Spider-Man project with Jeff Loeb. Anyone know the status of this thing? I know Campbell has a website and a myspace page, I'll check those tonight.

I was so excited for this project. I love J. Scott's work. I should have known when it was announced it wasn't real...just a figment of my Spider-Man craving mind.

Loeb talked about it in one of the wordballoon podcasts.

I'll listen to it again and transcribe what I can but from what I remembered his story is going to be more integrated with the Brand New Day stuff than before. It was probably going to be a stand alone story similar to what he did in Batman with Hush and an all star cast of Spider-Man's villains.

eeeek! Maybe loeb is going to ruin this issue too, i just can't understand him at all....

He wrote hush which i really enjoyed and yet anything else he touches seems to be awful; wolverine evolution and ultimates 3 not to mention Fallen son:DOCA spider-man issue was poor to say the least.

While I realize that Loeb is a controversial writer based on the critical response of his work, I don't think Loeb can do any more "damage" than what Quesada and crew have done with OMD. If anything his story should be fairly straightforward assuming he doesn't retcon stuff.

Wow, how old is this thread?

Yeah, I don't think it matters to some people like me who would of actually paid money to see J Scott do his thing. THough, honestly, I think his artwork has suffered since his peak on that Danger Girl series he actually finished. I bought the whole series in the last year or so and have read most of it. Great, fantastic looking art. I saw the Wildsiderz stuff he did and recent covers, it just doesn't look nearly as good. He uses digital inking, but I think his artwork may of lost his edge. Maybe, he's just not inspired anymore. Maybe Alex Garner was a vital element to his work, or atleast provided his artwork with that extra 'kick' but I think it's more a thing of new technology and a lack of work put into it.

Seeing as how his old Amazing covers looked, I think the whole thing is a lost opportunity.

It could still happen...I mean, if he worked on it at all then conceivably he has SOME finished pages laying around. Marvel will try to push it through, I just wonder what the hold up could be...I mean besideds the obvious.

I'll buy almost anything the guy puts out, I just hope he can finish this one.

And I'll stand up for Loeb. He's written some alright stuff: Fallen Son: Captain America, Batman: The Long Halloween.

I remember watching a video interview with J. Scott Campbell on the Wizard website last year. He said the Spider-Man project is taking up all of his time and that Marvel feels that none of it is ready to come out yet. He presumed that it'd probably start coming out sometime in 2008.

Loeb said that Campbell is "drawing in extreme detail" and that's why it is taking so loong! I can't wait to see it, though I'm sure the writing will suck. The art should be great though.
