I just bought a new monitor and the old computer has no place for a DVI connection so the colors are fairly messed up on my computer---trust me, though, I picked nice shades on this one!

No back story, no words and lengthy descriptive process. Just a fun picture that I drew spontaneously (and colored NOT so spontaneously). Tell me how it is, comments/suggestions, the usual. Oh, and the third eye was just for fun. I drew this in pen on the paper so I couldn't erase it, but I thought it was kind of cute.

I'm still practicing drawing the male form, and so it's NOT proportional, the hands are terrible, and its just a little messy overall. 'Scuse.

THE VISION

I tried to design a costume that I thought the character could easily be outfitted in with the Vision's history/character as I know it. He's somewhat ominous and ethereal, and quite powerful, but he also has a human side. The collar adds authority, while the easier fit/coat sleeves make him less spandexy and perhaps a little more modern and real, with subtle v-cutouts in the wrists and cape for interest. I had a version without the cape that I really liked, but since the medium of this spectral character is the comicbook page, keeping the cape made sense to add visual interest and 'majesty' especially when he phases through objects when covered in his cape.

I think the yellow, green and red shades just don't inspire any sort of confidence, and are a vintage 4-color printing process' answer to making interesting characters. With his red skin already interesting, I didn't see the need to add any green but decided to turn the yellow more into gold. This will look particularly nice when he goes intangible, and he can keep the spectral feel. I played down his body by turning it more into a silhouette, but figured a reflective finish that's constantly shifting between black and gray in a holographic manner could add to the spectral feel, and make some interesting visuals when he passes through objects. His cape would seem like light while his body would be like shadow.

THE VISION

I really love the third eye. Between that, the open shirt and the kinda bell bottom pants, it has a totally 70s California feel to it. It's very, very fun.

I really love the cape and the collar. The use of the red in contrast with the gold and the design of it gives it a 70s feel (something about the Vision seems to inspire a kinda 70s thing, doesn't it?).

I like the V cutout in the cape and the red lining of the cape. I think I would prefer a full black bodysuit to play off the red and the gold better, but I like your concept for the shifting hologprahic feel.

And yeah, black was definitely a choice. But I kept thinking it looked too much like John Byrne's Jor-el...

You should have done the deep deep V, the chest hair, some falred pants with more red on the cuffs and the all black bodysuit and then it would have ben 70s Swinger vision. Especially if he had some kick ass sunglasses and a handlebar moustache.

LOL! Thanks, atoning, I WAS kind of going for that look though not really on purpose, as I don't really draw men that often and the ladies I draw are always given V-Necks.

And seriously, I would have died of laughter if you put some chest hair on him, Bakla. I love the face on your design right now though...so classic with using the shadows to create the face? I love it. And the hands make me crazy---I can not draw hands for nothing!

This is a lot of fun, I think I WILL join the next CBRunway! I hadn't realized how great it is. Lovin' your designs so far, atoning and Veggie! Keep up the great work!

Creeper Boy


Johnny Baker discovered at a young age he could understand the secret language of plants,something only a handful of humans in the history of the world have been able to do.
Johhny saw something wrong with the way plants were being treated and upon consulting the Great Queen of the trees set out to do something about it.
Using her complete mastery of vegetation the Queen created a pair of pants,a medicine bag filled with rare plants and herbs and some stylish boots for Johnny to wear on his mission.

I like the Shaman/Surfer Dude look, twi. I love the shoes! They're fun. I personally would have ditched the headband, made the hair a little bit longer and would have had some white boy dreads all tied up with plant fiber in a few places, but that's me. It's a fun design!

So where's your Vision, young man? Me wants to see it!
