I'd say Toby and Dilana should be safe for tomorrow. Dilana lapses into raw power screams at times on the high note climaxes, but that won't cost her yet, if ever.

Storm was the weakest tonight even though some of that was out of her control to some extent. That song forced her to take on another singer to do the male part. Although maybe it just put into sharp relief that she is not outshining the others at this point.

As for the rest, I thought Lukas was good, but both he and Magni didn't really close out the songs completely. They just seemed to run out of focus and air by the end. It is a minor point, but they should watch that and for that reason, they should get sent to the bottom three tomorrow. The fans could drop Ryan down there as well. I didn't really feel the changes to the Clocks opening, and his antics during the song seemed a little overwrought.

He's definitely a good singer (I personally prefer the softer, less harsh tone he can use), but I don't think he's necessarily impressed the band as much as, say, Toby or Magni. They even picked Toby for the performance last week (which, no matter what they say, means something; see: Dilana being the first). He also hasn't noticeably improved and/or delivered a shiver worthy performance (i.e. Ryan post-Losing My Religion). Still, I could see him lasting longer than some, but I don't see him being the final male performer, let alone the winner. I would also disagree about Toby having an un-unique voice; he seems to me to have one of the larger vocal ranges for the males.
I think the main problem working against Toby is the fact that he's been sent down to the bottom 3 at times he's played with Tommy and Gilby. He also was sent down last week after they picked him as a tryout.

And the song sucked a d-ck. That song was horrid and I'm sure Lukas was happy he wasn't wasted on it. Plus as they have said " You all will get a chance to play with us in the next few weeks, it doesn't mean a thing if your not picked...yet. "

Plus the performance of " Creep " was pretty much the best one this year by Lukas and even Tommy Lee said he felt shivers. So take that for what its worth.

Granted, I'd forgotten about Creep: that was awesome.

Also, last week was Toby's first in the bottom three.

And, yes, the song pretty much sucked.

And nobody has to think too much,
    About Desolation Row.

Barring an unbelievable performance Storm or Magni is gone this week, I think it will be Storm.

I am however beginning to think how Supernova and Dave say what they say is having a much bigger impact than what they say. I don't think Dilana did as well as they made out that she did and I thought Toby did awesome and they really downplayed how much they liked it.

Everyone was great last night however, and this will be a tough elimination this week.

I couldn't wait until the end of the show to say this: Storm is going home.

I don't even know who the third member of the bottom three is tonight, or how they will sound when they perform, but it would take a disaster to do worse than Storm. She picked a challenging song, and just blundered through it with strong off-key singing and unimpressive stage antics. The crowd was pumped up by the previous performances tonight, but they seemed less enthusiastic about Storm.

Lukas is starting to look like a winner. His performance with the band tonight was great, he really looked like the frontman for Supernova.

Oops, as I type this, Dilana is self-destructing with a bizarre opening to an old Talking Heads song. I think she might still pull it off, but I am hating that eye-yi-yi sound she's making right now.

None of the three performances tonight were very good; Both Ryan and Storm shouted far too much, and Dilana...wow...that stank. Big time odorous funk. Worse than Ryan's performance, which was terrible. I admire Ryan's verve, but once he got amped up, he didn't seem to know when to turn it down...and that's over the past three weeks. Too much screeching tonight...I think he sang two notes the entire time (okay, MAYbe three). I was growing tired of his angst, too.

I thought Storm sang better than the other two tonight...but that's not saying much. Glad to see Magni as the only one NOT standing. I don't think he's as good a frontman as Lukas would be, but I like Magni, and he's got a strong voice.

Lukas, singing the new Supernova song, was phenomenal...and so was the song; the best of the three Supernova tracks--by far.

As to the final five...unless the band already has their mind made up...I think it could be any one of them, now. Next week is original song week, so...we'll see.

I know what you mean about Ryan. He seemed to be playing it kind of safe tonight, vocally, sticking to a very limited range that he could sing, as opposed to the off-key sonic adventures of Storm and Dilana tonight. If I was cynical about it, I might say that the producers insisted on keeping a couple of women in the running at this late stage, giving them both a free pass tonight. I wasn't surprised that Ryan was in the bottom three, but I was still surprised that they kept Storm and booted Ryan this early.

But really, the thing that stood out to me about Ryan was his awkward stage antics tonight. It took him too long to shrug off that leather jacket, and way too long climbing up on top of those speakers, subtracting critical amounts of time from his actual singing. I didn't quite see his landing, but that probably wasn't cool either, given how far he was jumping down. And worst of all, Gilby looked impatient while watching Ryan climb.

Lukas is a man who dictates the stage. And did the final 3 really swing from what we saw ? The fans came out for da man.

My satellite is out. Sucks! So me and the Mrs are without Rockstar for the last week. We just finished watching the web available performances, and I thought Ryan kicked gigantic @ss. (We were watching the Tuesday performances)

I have been a fan of Ryan since he slayed on the Depeche Mode cover a few weeks back. He constantly gave performances that DELIVERED. Great voice too. Looks a little too much like David Blaine: Street Magician for my liking, but C'est la Guerre. I thought he should have WON. I wont go into my belief that Supernova will never be a success no matter who wins this reality show competition....but Im sure their singer wont be a female. These guys are old school rockers...they want the attention...and female fronts always end up being the star of any band they are in. They need to be. I might be wrong. Im betting Lukas will win. And he aint too bad really.

Im just sad to see Ryan go, and I hope he gets a shot at fronting his own band or a lead singer for an already successful band....kinda like Chris Doughtrey was offered after he was robbed of American Idol (Or should I say "Spared"?).

Sad to hear about this development. Im kinda done caring who wins, since my fave was just booted. Same thing happened for last season's American Idol for me when Chris was out.

Anybody else think it's funny that a "Supernova" is an old dying stars last gasping moments?

The name is ironic, but I think that it's possible that they might produce a decent album or two if rejuvenated by one of these finalists. The frontman is the focal point of the band, so they need somebody who looks, sounds, and acts like a rock star. Of the remaining contestants, Lukas, Dilana and Toby fit the bill, while Magni is maybe a little too low-key. Storm is fairly bland, but we all know that she won't be the winner.

One problem that aging rockers face is their declining vocal range. Some of the dinosaur classic rock bands touring the state fairs this summer had to find a younger lead vocalist who was capable of hitting the high notes on the old songs. Supernova is doing the same thing, except that they are also generating a lot of publicity in the process.

That new Supernova song last night sounded pretty decent. If they have more songs like that ready to go, plus their new frontman turns out to have decent song-writing ability, then Supernova will be worth paying attention to. But if they end up just playing covers of older songs that Tommy, Gilby and Jason once played, then this band is going to quickly fade next year.

I really liked last nights song, but I definitely can confirm that Lukas is wrong for the band. I could not understand most of the lyrics he was singing.

But Bob Dylan almost never had all that noise going on behind him while he was singing.

Lukas is too screachy. I'm sorry unintellible singing died in 1994.

Supernova will be too mainstream for Lukas' style.

Toby performed better than he has in weeks this week.

Magni does need to get some oomph in his step.
So, there's this thing NEW! 5/3/13
