    Default Wasteland from ONI Press

Hey all! Anyone else pick this little gem up? The cover alone made me pick this one up, and I wasn't dissappointed in the story. Kind of like an apocalyptic-The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly I'm looking forward to the rest of this one, even more so than I am 52...

Damn, I love reading comic books.

I picked this up and it was great. For $2.99 you get 48 pages of story, it was well worth it. A very good post apocalyptic story, it has the mystery roaming hero, the big scary group of monsterous people, and the promised land many are looking for. Highly recommend it, plus it's 3 bucks for twice the regular sized comic.

I picked up this book because of the price/value and because the art looked great (Templesmith's cover is what caught my attention). The quotes on the back helped too.
And I'm glad I did! This book rocks. I would love to see a map of the scape of the land- there are a lot of potential directions this can go. I can't wait for the next issue.

The second issue is due out this week.

Enjoyed the first - it's not exactly and earth-shaking new premise (not so far, anyway), but I like the characters and situations, and I had fun trying to figure out some of the obscure dialog bits.

Royal, you haven't seen any new issues because #1 only came out a month ago ;) Issue #2 is in stores this week.

    A quick mini-review:

Wasteland #2 (Johnston/Mitten; Oni) Our rag-tag band of desert-dwellers, driven from their destroyed town by vicious Sandpeople (hey - I didn’t name them), head toward what they hope will be the haven of a large city. As they stop for the night in the desert, a Sun Singer tells them the story of the Big Wet and the destruction of the world by the angry gods. Meanwhile, in the large city, we see the beginnings of a holy war against the Sun Singers, started by what appears to be the despotic leader of the town. Interesting use of different styles of b&w art - sometimes very impressionistic, sometimes just clean and straightforward. The blurred effect for backgrounds or foregrounds gets old rather quickly, though.

Err, neither did I, not that anyway. They're called "Sand-Eaters".

With issue number two, I'm completely hooked. There seems to be so much going on, so much that I want to know about and damnit I have to wait a month for the next one?!? I'm really intrigued by the religion issue, what is the threat the sunners present to Lord Founder? Who is Lord Founer, you know besides the leader of the town the protaganists are heading to? Definatly seems a more religious leader then just political one, what is their religion? Will Michael have any conditions on helping the newly homeless group make it to the city? Oh and will we have more of the very beautifully drawn tales done in future issues to give us the mythos of the sunners as we did this issue? These are my questions and loads more (all mostly being what's next with...) so I'm on for the rest of the run definatly.

Antony, fantastic job on the new book. I can tell there is an almost limitless amount of plotlines with the stellar setup the first 2 issues revealed and the art is exceptional. Keep producing the book and Ill keep buying it.

Wait and--no, hang on, I can actually answer this one ;)

I don't know exactly when, but yes, there will be more 'mythology revelation' along the way. It might not be Sunner myths, though... you'll just have to wait and see :D
