This was an excellent series, though towards the end there was a change in the voice of the series, perhaps the philosophical tone, something like that, but none of the characters were simple, and Mr. Gone is still one of my favorite villains.

The show on MTV kept the tone of the book, and I'm hoping for a DVD some day.

The paperbacks for the series are worth having.

I'm a giant Sam Kieth fan but, the problem is that the series was completed nearly 10 years ago already. That'd explain why no one's talking about it currently. If you're fiending for some more Kieth, check out Batman: Secrets and My Inner Bimbo

I too, am a bigtime Sam Kieth fan, I loved reading the Maxx and FOTM, I like the earlier Maxx stuff a little bit better though. There are some Maxx TBPs put out by DC(I believe) those along with Batman: Secrets are worth picking up.

The Maxx, man, that was a good series. I grabbed my missing issues through trades and it was worth reading. One of my favourite series from Image.:D

You can pick those up pretty easily at most halfway decent sized Cons... I bought my copy at a really small con for $10. My DVD player sucks tho and won't it, so I have to watch it using my PS2... still... good stuff.

EDIT: Actually... here you go: http://dvd.search.ebay.com/maxx-dvd_...pZ1QQsacatZ617

There are three on ebay as I type this

I've started several Sam Kieth threads in the past. It's amazing, after so many years, Sam is still one of the most vital and innovative writer/artists being pubilshed. Everything he's done is a new benchmark in comics history... everything. I think people are going to continue to rediscover him so long as his books are in print. He's a goldmine and national treasure, in my opinion.

Whatever happened at the end of the series? What happened to the characters?

I never really cared for the book all that much tbh, although I bought the early issues....I was more facsinated with the design of the character....needless to say, at the time I had a strangely overwhelming interest in Australia.....But, those shots of him bounding through the outback with that big, grass headpiece are permanently engraved in my mind.....

....I think I was a bit too overwhelmed with the bizarre story/writing/page layouts, and I would have rather seen a more Larsen-esque approach to the character....like, one huge fight scene to another.....would be cool if the character made a comeback though....I would love to see other artists' interperetations of him.

The Maxx was my favourite comic book ever at the time - bar none! The story and concepts were so inovative at the time. Damn I have to go out and rebuy it.

I kind of remember the cartoon on MTV when I was a kid. I decided to pick up the first trade and all I can say is... AMAZING! I just ordered the other 5 books. This is some great writing and fantastic artwork. I'm going to finish the series and check out Sam's other stuff.
