Default X-Men moment that moved you.

Which X-Men moment moved you the most. Have you ever been in tears because of an issue? Over decades we've established strong bonds with these characters and the mythology of the series...which issue touched you the most?

There are many argueable issues such as Ilyanna's death etc but for me, it was an issue of Cable where Pyro dying of the legacy virus begs Senator Kelly to stop all the fighting and all the death and Kelly promises he will. This story really affected me as we had the two opposing poles (the mutant supremeicist and the human bigot) find a common ground.

Jubilee leaving the mansion. I'm a total 90's era boy and that sums it up.

"Professor Xavier thank you, for knowing when to hold on, and when to let go.."

Warlock's death in New Mutants #95 probably moved me the most out of all the deaths we've seen. I remember I was pretty much crying when I finished reading that issue and I definitely felt depressed for a few days afterwards. As much as I disliked Rob Leifield's run on New Mutants, this death was well-written and well-drawn. Watching Rahne cry out Warlock's name, tears running down her face, realizing that she wasn't able to prevent his demise, was probably one of the saddest moments I've ever read. And watching 'Lock's face fade away to dust was such a sad moment.

Omigosh! Yes, Uncanny X-Men #318, if I remember correctly. Such a touching moment- I really loved that issue. I was definitely moved after reading that one. :)

Mine isn't about any of the X-men.

Its in either Uncanny #236 or #237 when Jenny ransom is transformed into a Genoshan mutate. I couldn't believe it when it ACTUALLY happened. i was so sure Phillip was going to rescue her. :(

I don't know that this is the X-moment that moved me the most -- I'll have to give that some thought -- but I've always really, really liked the scene between Cyclops and Rachel at the end of X-Men/Alpha Flight #2 where he's asking about her parents, and it's pretty clear that he knows that he and Jean are her parents, and she knows he knows, but they don't actually say it.

Rachel: My dad, he used to say, as long as you're alive, it's never too late.
Scott: Did ... your father ... die in that future?
    Rachel: All the X-Men died.
Scott: You know, you remind me an awful lot of someone.
    Rachel: That good or bad?
Scott: Good. She was very ... dear to me. And when she died, all the light -- the joy -- went out of my life. A part of me will always miss her. I never imagined I'd ever be as happy -- and fulfilled -- again, until I met Madelyne. It isn't the same, but that doesn't mean it can't be as good, or maybe even better.
Rachel: My mom had a saying: Everybody deserves a second chance.
    Scott: Smart lady.
Rachel: Yeah. When they made my folks, they broke the mold.
Scott: Funny -- I was just thinking much the same thing about you.

I think that's my favorite Cyke moment -- that exchange between the two of them is really sweet and well-written. Shortly after that Scott dumped Madelyne and things went to hell for him characterwise, and I still find him kind of exasperating a lot of the time, but I like looking back at that scene and reminding myself why he used to be one of my favorite characters.

X-Men #108. Moria MacTaggert's death and her psionic farewell to Xavier. There may be others that are second or third in my book but they don't come anywhere close.
Pull list: Uncanny X-Men, X-Men Legacy, X-Men, New Mutants, Uncanny X-Force, Avengers, New Avengers, Secret Avengers and Thunderbolts. Irregular reader of irregularly released Astonishing X-Men.

In Wolverine #75 when Wolverine writes the note to Jubilee explaining why he has to leave, that always gets to me. It is weird to see him show real heartfelt emotions, cause he tries to be such a bad ass.

Sounds great. I have 3 issues of Fatal attractions so I'll try and find this one.

I love it when threads throw up stuff like this. :)

    God Loves, Man Kills
The scene with Magneto in the park with the children left out in the open so their deaths could be sensationalized. The pain in his words showed he had seen some atrocities in his life and if he could help it, would never let it happen again.

Gotta go with Uncanny 297 (Jubilee teachs Prof. X how to roller blade). The last few pages are incredible. The Beast/Archangel conversation in that same issue while rebuilding Harry's is also pretty good.

Also agree on Wolverine 75. And I'd add the scene in X-Men 30 (the Wedding) where Sabretooth thinks about screwing with the Wedding, and sees a note from Wolverine to the effect of "don't even think about it."

X-Men #37- the one where Blink sacrifices herself to save her fellow Gen-Xers. This was such a sad moment cos I really liked Blink (I don't care that much for her AOA counterpart), and it showed her courage and stength.

Another tender moment for me was Uncanny X-Men #314- the one where Emma Frost, having woken up from her coma and taken the body of Iceman, finally learns that all her Hellions have been killed. When she looks into her computer database and the screen lists off all her students as "deceased"- wow, that was a sad and poignant moment.

"All of you.... please forgive me. Forgive me, because I know.... I never will."

And then at the very end we have Xavier staring at the computer screen in another poignant moment, as he promises the deceased students that he will never let "the blood of innocents be spilt in this insane conflict between races... between factions. Never again."

Ok, so he kinda lied, but still, it was a very powerful and tender moment for me. I just reread this issue and I totally have chills. It affects me THAT much. :)
