Default Black Panther: Should he have a Animated show?

I was watching the Fantastic Four Disc 3 of their Animated run back from their 1994. It had an episoded entitled "Prey of the Black Panther" where T'challa lured the FF to Wakanda, separated them, broke them down, and nearly defeated them clean but of course Reed found an effective counter and stopped him from getting the KO on him. The show had Panther's backstory and it was all written well with T'challa being written with intelligence and showing off his physics side during the confrontation. Could a BP show be successful?

Unfortunately considering the world we live in, it would have to take place in the Wakandan U.S. embassy. And it would have to have a largely american supporting cast. Like an embassy security employee/sidekick w/ powers and he would have to be white or a kid.

    Actually:
He's about to have his own animated series on B.E.T (Black Entertainment Television), from the trailer I saw in newsrama.com: (They're animating comics drawn by John Romita jr.)

    Absolutely.

I think its about time the Panther got a show. He's an interesting character and is long over due for some Animated attention.

I just got done watching the trailer, and I think it will be pretty interesting. Especially because they're sticking so close to the book (even animating the cover).

It will also be part of an "Animation Power Hour" running with Hannibal
    Cuz you demanded it.......

Panther should be a good cartoon and I do plan on checking it out on BET when they show it, but I do hope there are white characters included in it too that arent always portrayed as the evil guys.

    Absolutely.

But not the one we seem to be getting. He deserves much better writing and animation.

Tell that to Avatar. The series was hugely suucessful, based in a fantasy play of Asian archtypes. Heck, the love interest for the main character was African American.

Black Panther, if written well, can succeed. Given the snap shot that I saw, however, I doubt it will.

That BET series looks like a direct take-off on the first arc of the Hudlin series. That was the series that made me abandon my favorite Marvel superhero after only 3 issues, so I have really, really low expectations for the animated series.

    We'll have Black Panther.

Then Black Panther will have a hip black urban sidekick from the mean streets, that provide's humorous black sterotype jokes. Like Riley from the Boondocks.

I swear to god this is what is going to happen.

I'd like one that was NOT on BET under Hudlin's supervision, and not based upon the Hudlin/Romita JR Panther story that I didn't enjoy.

That being said, I still love the Panther and I'll still check it out with an open mind, hoping that it'll be better than expected.

I'd say that there's no way that would happen...but then, in the clip we saw, we had African tribesmen in 8000 B.C talking like punks from the 1990s.

If it's on BET you can bet thats what is going to happen.

Hell I bet Black Panther will be a famous Rapper during the day, and a masked vidilante at night.

It is. Hudlin has written all the episodes for the first season, which is an adaptation of his first arc. The one with T'Chaka whuppin' Cap's ass, Black Knight the Vatican stooge, T'Chaka dying at the hands of Klaw, not as a warrior king but as an assassin's "mark", the United States sending in cyborg zombies (made with the bodies of dead Iraqi soldiers) to "inva-er... assist Wakanda" and so on.

Katara was definitely not African American. I think her people were based off of the Inuit people, but I could be wrong.

Damn, I just saw the trailer and I am impressed. I hope it works and that BET doesn't screw it up.
