Well, SD is coming out regularly again. The quality is on the rise. I'm actually looking forward to seeing how Dragon is going to take out Mr. Glum, now that he rules the world.
What I'm really looking forward is Dragon vs. the villians from Wanted. I'm really exited about that.
Glad that you started this tread. I read SD in the beginning, perhaps the first 12 issues and then left comics all together for a long while. I am back now and was hoping that someone could fill me in on this character alittle bit (SD & shadowhawk were the best image characters). I was wondering if SD's origin was ever told and if so what issue(s) would that be in.
Thanks for your help!

If any of you want to head over to the Community Forum we've got a comic book character 'six degrees of speration' game going, where the challenge is to connect two characters, given by someone else, by the various other characters they have met.
ie. Reed Richards to Superman.
1. Reed knows Spiderman.
2.Spiderman met Superman.
Usually it's a littole tougher, and has to be done within six degrees.
Anyway, Savage Dragon fans definetly seem to have a leg up, as nearly every connection so far has gone through the book due to the amount of other characters dragon has met, so come play if you want.

I can't wait to read it. I've had the origin spoiled for me, but it will still be great to finally find out. Although, it's something that was teased for awhile, but him being found in a burning field was a good enough origin for me.Originally Posted by Erik Larsen
Wow, filling you in on over 10 years of continuity would be a huge chore. I'd recommend you catch up on the series either by buying back issues, or getting the TPBs. The original mini-series to about 75 of the regular series are some of my favorite comics ever. I've still enjoyed SD for the most part after that point, but it just hasn't been the same. I highly recommend that you try to catch up from where you left off, Jim.Originally Posted by jim1175
Savage Dragon isn't like Superman or Spiderman where there are changes, but there is also a status quo that everything gets reverted to. In SD you never know what's going to happen, and no characters are safe from being killed or otherwise permanently changed. Hell, there have been a couple of times when I thought that Erik had really killed off Dragon!
Yeah I know what you mean. Ya know one of these days, he's gonna do it again and we'll all be like, oh he'll be back but this time Dragon reall ain't coming back. :(Originally Posted by Forefinger
Erik himself has said the book will continue beyond Dragon's death. Enter: Malcolm. I love that little guy! Can't wait for his return.
I have taken your suggestion and started picking up some of the back issues, my local shop is selling a run of them real cheap (issues 38-63, with one or two missing in between). Can you maybe explain the whole thing with issue# 75, I get the impression that there was some kind of a revamp at this point - Is this true? And if so to what extent? Did Eric start over again from scratch with #76? Also do you know if there is either a book or card set or something out there that I can pick up to figure out all the characters(origins, names, etc)? I heard something about a companion book which I am looking into finding - Does this contain the info I want?
Thanks again for your help!

I don't really want to spoil it for you, but: During Dragon's time with Special Operations Strikeforce, after his time with the Chicago PD, he encountered Darklord on an alternate Earth called, Darkworld (I just love Erik's simplistic names for some places/characters). After that, Martians invade the Earth and in the process, Superpatriot's daughter, Liberty is raped by Martians. Several months later she gave birth to a half-breed baby that is obviously baby Darklord, named Damien. During the course of Dragon's complicated life there are several subplots going on where the Covinent of the Sword is revealed to be behind much of the hardship in Dragon's life. He discovers that a young Darklord is in charge of the whole thing and in issue 75 Dragon kills Darklord after many of Dragon's friends and family are killed or taken away from him. In issue 76 it's revealed that by killing the time traveling Darklord, several key events in Dragon's old word never happened so the Earth is ravaged by the Martian attacks and is ruled by Cyberface. So yeah, kind of a big turning point there after 75. A whole new world, and a different take on Dragon.Originally Posted by jim1175
I can't wait to see Malcolm again, or She Dragon. I'm glad that the new Earth's version doesn't have that mohawk. She's hot! It makes me wish that Erik was still slipping more T&A into the book! Anyway, hopefully she will return soon.Originally Posted by the_coldest_sun
Erik, is the She-Dragon one shot supposed to take place in the Negative Zone (I'm sorry, but I can't remember your name for it)?
Are there Hardcovers collecting Savage Dragon?
I know there are trades, but big HC's like Invincible got are my new prefereance for reading comics.

I haven't seen any.Originally Posted by FunkyGreenJerusalem
*edit* I checked on SavageDragon.com on the store section. I only found TPBs listed. And I didn't see as many listed as I thought were collected. If Erik Larsen comes back to the thread maybe he can shed some light on how many collections there are, and in what format they are in.
I have a request...
When referring to the origin story that was printed, could you please put those bits in spoiler tags? I'm very appreciative of Erik not talking about the origin in the letters page and trying to allow people to leave that as a mystery if they'd like. I imagine that might stop once #0 comes out, and I suppose it's annoying thing to ask... but I figured I'd just throw it out there...
