I met the director @ the LA Filmfest last summer, and have succeeded in missing EVERY screening of it since then! It's on my Netflix cue though. Was it good?

Civilly disobeying the law of gravity.
Been thinking about picking this up. The Dolls are one of my favourite bands, and I wish he'd lived to play on the new album.
howyadoin?
The documentary was interesting. It was less focused on the history of the Dolls - very briefly touched on through soundbites with Chrissie Hynde, Mick Jones, Bob Geldof and more substantially, Morrissey. It really centered on Arthur Kane and the "redemption?" of an aging and failed ex-rock star.
Interesting how Mormonism played into it as well - his friends in the church were pretty supportive of the reunion show, and David Johansen and Morrissey were suprisingly gracious and open minded about his religious conversion (I certainly didn't expect that from Morrissey).
When I saw Slyvan Slyvan in 2001 - he told me that Johanson was totally against ever doing a dolls reunion. That they had plenty of money thrown at them and he always refused.
Yeah, I remember a short blurb on him in Rolling Stone's "Random Notes". Probably around 82 or 83. He was asked when there would be a Dolls reunion, and he said, "when there's peace on earth."Originally Posted by Cash Lone

When does the new Dolls album come out, and has anyone heard any of the songs?
(FYI, this thread was originally titled New York Doll, not Dolls, because that's the title of the documentary film - but no big deal)
I have got to see this film.
Souns pretty awesome.

finally got around to watching this, - I thought it was a great documentary, - want to watch it again with some friends.
"Do you even know what the term "shoot" means, son?" - Matt Classic
Morrissey? Jesus Christ that's frightening. Next he'll start exhibiting self-effacing modesty!
I haven't seen the documentary myself, but have vaguely meant to do so at some point. However, this thread has gotten me more interested in checking it out considering the focus.
And tangentially related to this subject Robyn Hitchcock wrote a song about Kane called "N.Y. Doll".
