Default Okay, So I'm Finally Watching Buffy...

Yeah I know, what rock have I been hiding under?

I'm five minutes into the first ep and I see the geeky guy (Xander, right) skating up and notice some strings coming out of his shirt. I pause.

Holy crud he's wearing Tzittzit (aka a Talit Katan aka those string things Jewish men wear under their shirts).

    I'm already loving this.

I doubt you'll be disappointed, Morts. Are you going to watch Angel when you're done with Buffy?

You'll probably change your mind after the Jewish girl nails a cross to her bedroom wall to keep vampires out.

Borateen- Maybe. It depends. I mean, I need something to watch while Stargate is in re-runs.

Michael - Oh don't tell me that...

Well, it's not like the Star of David wards them off.

I don't see why it would:. A Magen David is a racial/political symbol, not a religious one.

To be fair, there's a great accompanying line to that scene.

And it's a practical thing, not a point of faith.

Now when she essentially converts later...:p

PLEASE keep in mind that I have honestly never seen an episode of this show. I've enjoyed the first three and would love not having bits spoiled. Thanks.

And wow SMG's acting skills are raw at first.

    Youll enjoy it.

I especially enjoyed the first season. The finale was great.
    The Lion banner sways and falls in the horror-haunted gloom;
A scarlet Dragon rustles by, borne on winds of doom.
In heaps the shining horsemen lie, where the thrusting lances break,
And deep in the haunted mountains, the lost, black gods awake.
Dead hands grope in the shadows, the stars turn pale with fright,
For this is the Dragon's Hour, the triumph of Fear and Night.

Just make sure you stick it out past the first season. Some of the first season episodes are very painful to watch as the show hadn't really gotten good yet. And the finale of season I is very cringe worthy at times despite a pretty good plot. I won't ruin it but there is a point in the finale where the Buffy theme music starts playing. I want to crawl under a rock and die of embarassment its so cheesy and thats when I'm watching it alone. But it does get much better. Season II is possibly its best season (personally I like six more but two is a close second).
Price your book at $3.99 and I'll trade wait. Make me wait too long for the trade PAPERback and I'll say screw it. I'm looking at you Marvel and Spider Island.

Well I guess Im more toughened to chessiness.

Anywho, theres a fantastic scene in the library from that episode that balances out that cheese and then some, IMHO.

Eh. Most SF shows do the cheesy "theme plays in the background" bit at least once. One show I watched recently even had the theme as an anthem for the fictional government.
