Default The Official 'Gilmore Girls' Season 6 Thread

    http://www.gilmoregirls.org/

    Great season opener tonight.

Luke said yes to Lorelai's marriage proposal and the people of Stars Hollow feel bad that he'll never get to have that 'romantic' moment. Luke then goes through a bunch of crap in trying to purchase an heirloom engagement ring.

Meanwhile Rory decides against returning to Yale. Luke, Paris, and Richard and Emily aren't happy about this, but Lorelai basically gives up; though Pairs makes Lorelai promise to be her support system this year now that her roommate won't be there. Rory goes to court for her role in stealing a yacht last season, where the lawyer that Richard had hired doesn't get the slap-on-the-wrist that he promised, and instead she receives 300 hours of community service and probation. Lorelai is very depressed.

    Is that good?

I love the show, and I thought the premiere last night was fantastic.

    For the WB it's good.

    Someone had to do it.

Jess came back and finally talked some sense into Rory. And proved to her what a dick Logan is. First time I've actually liked Jess. And he wrote a novel too.

    Not bad Jess, not bad.

And Luke managing the girls soccer team... hi-larious.

Yeah but until this episode Logan never seemed to be a total asshole... impish sure...

But man this episode had alot of bizzare out of character moments... Rory and her grandmother's interaction at the end made no goddamn sense. Emily suddenly thought Rory was a teenager?

And uh didn't Jess basically almost rape Rory until Dean stepped in?

    very wierd character moments here...

No. He wanted to go further with Rory but she didn't want to. They got into a fight. She left the room. She was upset. Dean thought something happened and they got into a fight. That happened in Keg, Max!

Ah... my memory must've been foggy. I didn't think rape happened in the Gilmore verse...

And let us hope it never happens. I'd watch that Logan though. He's one coke binge away from getting a little too frisky.

Oh how I hate him. You know you're an ass if Jess comes off better then you.

Looks like they are resolving the Lorelei and Rory rift next week... only to introducing a whole new set of problems for Luke. Like the spoilers:
    the whole long lost daughter
end of spoilers thing. Can't be that difficult of a hurdle to get over.

I don't really see them as out of character moments. It's just all these little tensions were being built up over the past few episodes where they suddenly explode into these moments in order to make Rory realize "What the f*** am I doing."

Logan was always an ass to me. He just had a charming smugness about him. Then again he was drinking a lot, also under a lot of "stress" of taking over the family business and face it having dinner with your girlfriends ex doesn't bring out the best in anyone.

Emily's treatment of Rory made sense if you consider the circumstances. It's not so hard to believe she still treats her like a teenager. Rory is only 21 and living under their roof so it was becoming more of a mother daughter relationship rather then a grandmother granddaughter relationship.

And keep in mind Emily and Richard have old fashion values and knowing their granddaughter is sleeping with her boyfriend is going to make them tighten the shackles a bit more. Not to mention Emily's jealousy over Rory's success at the DAR without her assistance.

Last night's episode was worth it just for Luke's and Lorelei's reaction to the soccer match, if not for finally showing off Logan in all his bastard-ness.

I don't think they were too out of character either. Logan has always been a party/drinking-all-night guy that just ignores Rory's feelings to go out partying. Last night was the first time that Rory had it shown to her. Jess is just growing up and maturing.

As for Emily, it has always seemed that she saw Rory as her chance to do things right that didn't happen with Lorelei. It transitioned well into the final scene with Lorelei projecting her concerns over Rory onto Paul Anka.

This show made a lot more sense after Family Guy made that joke about it (that Lorelai and Rory are lovers). Made a lot of sense.
