And how fun would it be if I played the same person all the time? :) Entering tournaments, etc. would probably mean it would be more expensive to play... I can still remember why I didn't play Magic: The Gathering in tournaments (people paying $20 for a card because they REALLY needed it in their deck).
I've been playing for about 3 years now. And I've gotten good at it (I have a pretty good win percentage rate 40% give or take). Depending on your comic book spending habits, it can be less than what you spend on comics or more. I know with my particular comic buying habits, it's less than what I spend on Heroclix. But I buy a lot of books per month.

Heroclix is an addictive game that can have you spending a lot of money on it. I just found myself budgeting better and it became more manageable. I don't have complete sets of any release Out of the I think 4000+ pieces in all the sets made, I probably have about a 4th of that. Less if you take out the duplicates. I've gotten lucky, I pulled a lot of my wants in earlier sets early and thus didn't have to spend a lot on gaining more pieces. What a lot of people I know do is buy a case with a friend and trade whatever they get to fill out what they want. Cases are 300 or so dollars. I've never done this personally though.

Currently they're reworking their distribution model to make it easier to complete a set for less money. That set (Armor Wars) hasn't been released yet so I don't know how well that modification has worked.

I was personally indoctrinated into the tournament scene. A lot of people would say stay away when you're starting out, but I'm highly competitive anyway so it didn't hurt me. Be aware that a lot of people are cutthroat when it comes to winning LEs. But for the most part it's a really friendly environment. If you're mostly about playing your favorite pieces, just find a couple of people and play. There's no wrong way to have fun.

Here's a website to help you learn more about it. It's a forum similar to this one but strictly dedicated to Heroclix. They have a lot of good articles (some are out of date as the rules have changed slightly) and a ton of discussion on Heroclix.

I've bought a few boxes of 'em, and I haven't even played the game yet. I just think the little plastic figures are cool. I bought mine from from Sam Goody (50% off!), a local card/semi-comics shop, and even found some at Wal-Mart. I need to get online and see about buying some more.

I'd stick to action figures or paint 'em yourself minis for decoration purposes.
Good Gravy, this is a late reply.

I've picked up a couple dozen figures, mostly cheap LE's from eBay. The quality is inconsistent as noted, but overall they're cool to look at if you're not intently staring at them.

Just for those who are interested. This website below has some interactive Java based boards for Online Heroclix gaming. I had a go with some one last night, only a 200 pointer but it still worked.

You also need AOL Chat room though...so that migh be a problem.

The quality has steadily improved. The later sets are much much better.

I forgot about that. But yeah, it's good for just learning. The best plus is you don't need to own the fig to get an idea as to how the figure plays.

The game's pretty expensive for me. Plus, there are few people who actually play in my country.

Headhunter I'd recommend the Marvel gashas (capsule toys) that the Japanese make. They're pretty neat and good for displaying.

    Default !?!?Anyone Play Heroclix ?!?!

    Anyone Play heroclix?

Who are your favourite and most powerful characters and who is always in your team?

    I am unlucky with my boosters so my team isn't brilliant, but here are the main characters usually in my 600 pt team;

    DC Icons Veteran Superman
    DC Icons Veteran Persuader
    DC Icons Veteran Obsidian
    Marvel Mutant Mayhem Unique Bastion
    and pretty much always
Marvel Fantastic Forces Veteran Dr Strange
I also had Marvel Fantastic Forces unique orphan in to annoy people, lol

This isnt my team, they're just the character which were mixed about with other characters, in my team at some time.
Defenders | PunisherMAX | Winter Soldier

Also constantly picking up old limited runs.

Id like to play but no one to play with. I got some of the first series and kept collecting them till mutant mayhem, thats when I stopped.

I bought some like plastic briefcase looking things with dividers for screws and such for like builders, each section is just big enough for three good sized clix so I can put my rooks, vets and exp together.

Only have the marvel ones though.

Ive got a ton of VS system cards to, but yet again no friends to play with hehe.

Far as my most powerful, I guess that would be the galactus clix. One day Im going to pit like a 2000point team against him and play it myself and see if they can beat him hehe.
