I always thought of Tim Roth as Cassidy. I'll be happy if they don't cast prettyboys though.

This season, Showtime > HBO, easily.
Dexter, Weeds and Californication are one hell of a line-up. HBO has, what, Flights of the Concords (which people seemt o love, but okay) and Tell Me You Love Me (which was god awful).
Without Sopranos, Rome and Deadwood, there's not a lot of stuff on HBO for me to support. Entourage is heaps fun and I'll always ready for more, but not exactly compelling television.

Johnny Depp as Cassidy would be f'ing EPIC!
Johnny Depp as Jesse, Cassidy and Tulip.
What's creepy is he could actually pull it off with the proper makeup :|
What sort of discourages me about this series is that the guy who brought us Daredevil and Ghost Rider will be the director.
When his name brandishes a comic property, bad things happen.
If you've haven't seen "24 Hour Party People" check out Paddy Considine in the small supporting role of Rob Gretton (the manager of Joy Division and New Order). He pretty much looks exactly like Cassidy.

I'll back that up 100%. Ghost Rider is two hours of my life that I will never get back, I really wanted to give him a second chance after Daredevil. As much as I am looking forward to Preacher to be on the small screen, I keep thinking in the back of my head that he is going to slaughter the material.
I try and think that if my expectations are low I might not be disappointed, but with how good Preacher is my expectations are only high.
Plus, why the hell do they keep giving this guy jobs on comic properties?
True this is sensitive source material, and even though MSJ is good for fleeting references, can he really bring us anything near what we had in the series? And I also heard he would be adding new stories to the series, given what I've seen of his talents I have a heard time seeing this guy weaving new Preacher stories that'll stand up to the originals.
My expectations could not have been lower for Ghost Rider, and that did help me not vomit. At first I was actually even giddy about it because my fanboyness sort of overshadowed my common sense.
But once everything sunk in, I was so upset... And I can see this happening with Preacher, trying to really dim my expectations, making excuses at first, and then throwing my damn shoe at the t.v. .
They say fans are never happy, and for sometimes we are a bit too expectant of some divinely accurate translation, but we really get invested in characters, and once these characters go from the hands of the original creator to a team of other artist types that all have their own takes on it, what we know goes through a creative funnel and we end up with something we barely recognize.
This guy already has 3 strikes against him if you count his involvement with Elektra, or at least her overemphasized role in DD.
I don't know who he's blowing, but he must be good.![]()
