Will there be a "History of the DC Universe" book coming out soon to explain the new origins or changes of the DC heroes after IC ?
Thanks.

It's going to be a backup feature of 52 # 2-11 this time around rather than a separate miniseries like it was back in 1986.Originally Posted by the Hornet

I wouldn't be surprised if they collected those 10 History of the DCU back-ups into a trade when 52 is over with.
Yes, I imagine that DC probably will, but there's at least a year's wait for that.Originally Posted by Lex

DC's marketing people planned this out well.Originally Posted by the Hornet
The first issue was released last week, so HISTORY OF THE DCU should begin with this coming week's issue.

Nothing beats the Perez/Wolfman version of this. Comprehensive, informative and still stands for me.
Most of the information in the original HISTORY OF THE DCU is still accurate, but there are a few discrepancies. Most notorious is probably the early history of the JLA, which according to HISTORY was founded by Batman, Aquaman, Flash (Barry Allen), Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), the Martian Manhunter, the Atom, and Green Arrow (I think). That doesn't jive with the Pre-COIE Silver Age version (the original Big 7), the JLA YEAR ONE version (which has Black Canary and no Atom or Green Arrow during the founding), or the Post-INFINITE CRISIS version (Big 7 + Black Canary, I think).

The text indeed didn't specify, but I took that image to be of the founding JLA. Superman wasn't a part of it (but Batman was), and no members added during the "Satellite" era were seen in that image either. It was an odd JLA lineup that's never appeared in any of the published comics.

I remember reading somewhere that the original JLA lineup was to have Batman instead of Black Canary. If you notice in the first issue of Justice League (International), they refer to Batman as a founder. But the idea was changed much later on with Black Canary taking his place.
Honestly, I don't think another History of the DCU will do it. What I'd really love to see from DC is multiple History of the DCU one-shots for each of their major characters and groups. Using the format established by Wolfman and Perez, present the key historical points for each character/group, then use these books as the guide for each character's history.
Plus, once the history has been established, don't contradict it. Add to it if you need to, look at it for different perspectives if required, but don't change or retcon what's established. These one-shots should act as character bibles and reference points for all writers and editors.
