I have fond childhood memories of eating frozen treats during heat waves in southern Ontario when I was a kid. One was vanilla ice cream that came in a thin plastic cone. The store clerk would give you a small wooden spoon and the ice cream was delicious. When you got to the bottom of the cone there was a ball of bubble gum. The other was a frozen fruit ice that came in a foil wrapper shaped like a tetrahedron. I think it was called Lola but I can't find it with Google. I have a vague memory of noticing the Beatles eating Lola's in Help!
    Recent Nature Sightings:
Sept 24: Two Orcas close to shore.
Nov 14: Trumpeter Swans, Bald Eagles catching salmon (and a duck!), Harbour Seals, Steller Sea Lions, Kingfisher.

PBMax! It was the best candy bar ever. A cookie with real peanut butter (not the penut butter cream that reeses has) covered with chocolate. Man it was good.

See, I think that real peanut butter is creamy compared to what is in a Reese's Peanut Butter cup. The Peanut Butter in a Reese's is kinda like generic peanut butter that you haven't stirred the oil into yet.

Have you ever had a pre-supermass-production Pabst, Stroh's, Burger, Wiedemann, Hudey etc. etc so forth? Hell, even Budweiser and Coors had distinctive tastes back in the day. I'm not sure about Miller. A Miller/Bud/Coors cross-polination seems to be what the industry standard is today.

There was a time when American breweries had their own character.

Yep, you're absolutely right. Stroh's and Old Milwaukee had very distinctive tastes. And Coors Extra Gold, which tasted like original Coors, after Coors had homogenized to taste like Bud, Miller, etc.

Not that I really miss them, but still, it's an annoying trend.

Reser's Foods used to make a pretty good hot Italian sausage link. I haven't seen them in quite a while. And their website is less than useful.

Oh crap! I forgot about that kind of thing. We had a nice little butcher shop in a suburb here that had the absolute BEST links of all kinds. The only place I'd buy my Italian and chorizo. But, as the 'burb grew, the shop grew, and eventually the old guy that ran the place sold it for a humoungous profit and retired (GOOD on him). It's still there, and still has his name, but the product is at best "enh."

My Dad made his own hotdogs when he had his shop. Absolutely incredible. And smoked turkey. I cannot begin to find smoked turkey, hams or bacon as good.

Hmmm...maybe that's why I gained so much weight.

Oh I remember another one....Strawberry Jones Soda. They made it for like 1 week back in 1998. It was awesome. Man, they can keep making that abortion of a flavor Passion Fruit, but they can't make anymore Strawberry....DAMN YOU JONES.
We'd like to wish EZMOHR all the best in his future....ah forget it.

Damn, I would kill for some of that action. :D Even if it was old. :D

Also, I have to talk about all the Hershey limited edition candy bars that they are making. I get addicted to them and the the flavor gets replaced by something new. Grrrr. And riddle me this... Why did they keep white chocolate Kit Kat bars, but not the dark chocolate ones I saw for like three weeks about a year ago? Dark chocolate + anything = deeeeeeeeeeeeeeelicious.

Actually I just read online that the Kit Kit Dark Chocolate bar is a permanent edition in the UK, Canada and China! Why not in the USA?!?! Oh, so depressing. :(

I know it looked like Toilet Duck or some other disinfectant, but I loved that, myself.

Furthermore, I miss that Pringles flavor I've seen only once: Cheesy Onion or something. It was practically Cheez Ums and Sour Cream & Onion all in one, which eliminated the need to decide which of the two to get.

Also, because Coca-Cola in the Philippines recently purchased Cosmos, a local softrdrink company, in lieu of Barq's Rootbeer, we now get Sarsi, which is Sarsaparilla, and Barq's is a RARITY here now.

And IMO, Barq's was my favorite rootbeer. I've had Barq's, A&W, and Dad's already.

If it makes you feel better Jade, Hershey makes their chocolate from cocoa processed via slave labor. So you know, eating less might be a good thing.

Yes! How the hell could I forget those? Planters made them, and I loved the chocolate ones.

I don't remember a pretzel Twix, but there definately was a cookies & cream flavor along with fudge and peanut butter (which is still made).

Seconded. I'd kill for good dark chocolate. Just enough bitter to bite back the sweet.

Another thing I miss that I hadn't thought about until this morning: Pepsi in 16 ounce GLASS bottles. You remember the ones that came in 8-packs and you returned empty to the grocery store? Those.

I don't know the scientific explanation for it, but it just tasted better.
