Default Foods that you love but they no longer make.

I was thirsty the other day and I was thinking that I could really go for a Josta (a drink Pepsi made a few years ago) and was a little sad that they weren't made anymore and that got me thinking about other foods that I liked but aren't around anymore.

I miss Mars bars. Sure there's Snickers with almonds now but it's just not quite the same.

When I was a kid there was a sandwich spread called Spreadables. It was chicken salad (or turkey salad or ham salad) that was already made in a can and you just opened it up and make a sandwich with it. No need to chop up the meat and mix with mayo.

There was this one food item where it was something like beef stew or chicken ala king already cooked and put in a plastic pouch. You just put it in a microwave and heat it for a few minutes and have a fresh, hot meal. What was special about it was that you didn't need to keep it in your fridge. You kept it in your cupboard and it could stay there for years without spoiling. Something in the production about irradiating the food after it's cooked and sealed to kill any germs or bacteria that could grow and spoil the food. I think they did a test where they had people eat some chicken, one recently made and one irradiated and sealedmade a few months ago, and the people couldn't taste the difference. I guess once some people found about the the radiation they protested making claims of radiation poisoning and the company took them off the shelf.

I miss fruit-flavored Slice too. I was going to do a experiment and test taste a can of Slice past its freshness date with a brand new can and compare the test but they stopped making it soon after (my sister found the can a year later in the cabinet and drank it and she's still alive to pester me).

What foods do you love that they no longer make?

P'Nuts. They were peanut shaped chocolate covered peanut butter candies. They were delicious, and then they all disappeared.

Man, you said it. I loved the Jello Flavored ones even more then the Pudding though. Wonder why they quit making them, cause I know a lot of people who liked those.

Back in the Mid-70's there was a candy Bar, that was basicly Carmel, and choclate, called a Marathon Bar. From what I understand, the UK still has something Similiar, but that thing was so good as a kid growing up.

Vanilla Coke. I know it's newly off the market, but I loved that stuff. I was addicted, and now you can only get Black Cherry Vanilla Coke. I mean, that's all well and good, but I just liked plain Vanilla Coke. I was so depressed when I read that they were discontinuing it. :(

I also really liked the Holiday Spice Pepsi that they did about 2 years ago. Very interesting flavor. Again, it was a holiday promotion, and they didn't do it again to my knowledge, and I did look. :)

Citrus-flavored (or "Citrico") Gatorade. It was by far my favorite Gatorade, and I haven't been able to find it in a couple of years now.

I loved the Holiday Spice too. Luckily, my local army surplus store (I'm not kidding) had about 15 cans of that stuff in their soda bin, and I swooped them all up. This was about a month ago.

I know they'd been in that little fridge for over a year and a half, but I don't care. H.S.P. was WICKED delicious... mmmmm... cinnamon

I believe what they call Marathon, we call Snickers.

Monterrey Jack Doritios (remember this Doritios flavor from 1990, that came in a black bag, and Jay Leno did the commericals for them.)

Taco Flavor Doritios (the ones in the orange bag)

Hubba Bubba Soda (the only person on earth who liked it.)

Nehi Blue (No flavor name. No taste except sugar. It was just.....Nehi Blue.)

Cracker Barrel Cheese Lays Potato Chips

Sonic Drive-In Chicken Fried Steak Sandwhich. Dude, those freaking rocked. That sandwhich got me through college.

Zero Bars (I heard they still make them, but I have not seen one in the Bay Area for years.)

Oh man, that is all I can remember right now.
We'd like to wish EZMOHR all the best in his future....ah forget it.

Trader Joes used to make this salad dressing called "Creamy Basil and Garlic".

They stopped all of a sudden, and nothing else will do.
