What ever happened to the other women that had this title? I know this new woman has the name, and I sort of get her history, but what happened to the other ones? I really liked the one with her teleketic web or whatever it was.

Well there are like four different Spider-Woman sooo your gonna have to be more specific Julia Carpenter had psi-webbing soo I guess thats who you mean she retired from the superhero business and is raising her daughter I bleieve she lost her abilities as well.
I don't know if you are aware, but this "new woman" is the original Spider-Woman...she is neither new to the game nor the name ...she was the first lady to be Spider-Woman and she had her own 50 issue book in the seventies, her own TV cartoon (so far the only superheroine from a mainstream comic book publisher to get her own solo animated show) and tons of mainstream attention and merchandising back in her heyday (seven eleven tie-in promotions, underoos, Halloween costumes, a Saturday Night Live appearance, etc)Originally Posted by Hawkingbird82
Oh, and regarding Julia, the second Spider-Woman:
Wizard's latest issue (#176), on sale yesterday.
Page 27,SUMMER PREVIEW.
In their CIVIL WAR multi-page report/preview, they have a sub-section for New Avengers with little capsules of info regarding upcoming developments in the lives of several Avengers.
On the Ms Marvel pic, it reads:
"House Of M sparked something inside Carol Danvers, and now she's back in the big leagues, training newly registered superheroes for the government. She's going to be working with Arana, helping her grow up a bit, explains Ms.Marvel writer Brian Reed. Their first mission? Track down former Spider-Woman and rogue hero Julia Carpenter. What do you do when your friends do the wrong thing? adds Reed."
Sounds extremely interesting to me...I can't wait to see how this ends up...

it's not going to end well. she's a single mother, for starters. if she goes rogue, what will become of Rachel? oh well. i guess she could join the Young Avengers after stealing some of her mothers "spider serum."Originally Posted by ChildOfTheDarkholde
I don't like the sound of this either.Originally Posted by Haunt

Though my favorite Spider-Woman is # 1, I think Miss Carpenter has great potential to become a vital presence in the MU.

I am so freaking excited Julia is going to be a hero in Ms. Marvel, and anti-registration. I hope she takes a new name since Jessica stole hers (Jessica gave it up years ago)....I seriously hope she is ok when this is said and done though.
Read about the greatest series ever, Alpha Flight...from the beginning!
That is the funniest thing I have read on these forums in a long time...Originally Posted by Inferno

...totally cracks me up :D
Julia never wanted to be called 'Spiderwoman' anyways. she chose 'Ariadne' or 'Arachna.' the CSA forced her to use 'Spiderwoman.' there are way too many spider-related heroines out there, though. maybe she should just go with a more generic name and use the telekinesis for more than forming webs. *shrugs*Originally Posted by Inferno
When did that happen?Originally Posted by Haunt
I am pretty sure she refered to/introduced herself as Spider-Woman in Secret Wars.

Well, looks like I need to do some research. I assumed she got powers due to war worlds general freakiness.Originally Posted by Haunt
Thanks for the answer by the way.
No, Julia was at loose ends prior to the Secret Wars when her old friend Val Cooper offered her a government job that would allow her to spend time with Rachel. The catch required Julia to participate in an experiment as the subject. Julia was injected with a spider-serum that mutated her in a fashion similar to Peter Parker and Jessica Drew. When Julia found out that she received a potentially toxic injection, her rage triggered her new spider-powers.
After a period of training to master her powers, Julia was given the codename "Spider-Woman" by the government. As Haunt said, Julia hated the assigned name, since she wanted "Ariadne" (due to the webs) or would've settled for "Arachne". Shortly afterwards, Julia publicly debuted as the new Spider-Woman in Denver, Colorado. Her official debut was in the Secret Wars maxi-series, where she offered her help to the heroes.
A note of interest: Dan Slott tied Titania and Volcana's origin into Julia's Secret Wars activities in She-Hulk.
Arana a hero hunter!?!?!?!?!?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! Shoulda seen that comin i mean webcorps duh.

Man... I remember being 13 years old when those silly underoos commercials were all-over Saturday morning tv... man, I hated those things... but more than anything I despised the underoos for girls commercials - EXCEPT for the one in which an animated "Spider Woman" stepped into the screen. Here's how it went:
Several of the superheroine animated characters would step in and say something - and then the girl in corresponding underoos would sing something to rhyme what the superhero said... ...first, I think, was Wonder Woman - then another female superheroine ...
and then...(OMG) ...Spider Woman...
...the animated character stepped into the screen in that skin-tight, spray-painted-on, form-fitting, ultra-sleek, ultra-hot red and black outfit & flowing long, black hair and said (in an extremely sexy, rhaspy, sultry, older-woman voice)...
"Spider Woman... Brrrrrrave and tallllll"
(I swear it sounded like a German accent - so it came off like this: "Spider Voomin... Brrrrrafe ent talllll")
...and then the stupid kid would ruin it and sing "She's how I feeeeeel underneath it alllll!!" ...ugh... effectively poisoning the ultra-sexy Spider Woman siren that graced the screen moments before.
I will NEVER forget that part of that commercial ...I am just DYING to find it on Youtube one of these days.... I'm rather surprised it didn't cause concern by adults at the overtly sexy portrayal of Spiderwoman ...but who knows.
Do any of you remember this commercial? If so - gimmie your take -for all the normal reasons - that she was the hottest animated superheroine ever to be drawn - ...but also, I'm really curious to know if I was just misinterpreting what sounded like a German accent on her.
