    Default Most powerful Marvel villain?

I was just reading through the Most powerful hero thread and thought "Why not try a vilain thread?" So I did. And here it is.

If there's someone like Wanda who's sort of a villain and a hero or something debatable, well, that can pretty much pass.

I don't know why everyone says Magneto is most powerful he just controls magnetism, then again, I haven't read very much of him.

    So i'll probably say Wanda.

Thanos. As a mutated Eternal of Titan, his innate abilities include immortality, indestructbility, extreme willpower, and great strength. He has since enhanced himself with cybernetics and magic, and has often been shown firing large, powerful blasts of energy at will. He is both a strategic and tactical genius, and almost instinctively locates and wields powerful artifacts like cosmic cubes and soul gems. Once, he killed half of all living creatures in the universe to prove his devotion to Death. More recently, he killed all but a handful of living creatures throughout the entire universe, then re-booted everybody when he got bored. And he has repeatedly, consistently done these kinds of things.

Compared to Thanos, Scarlet Witch is strictly amateur hour. Her huge reality-altering feats have only happened when Bendis is writing her. Other than his two widely-reviled storylines with her, Disassembled and House of M, Wanda has only intermittently displayed moderate amounts of power, functioning more as a handy plot device than a character with a defined level of power.

i agree. Thanos is pretty strong
Choosing Scarlet Witch seems unfair, since she was never truly a "villian", just a clever idea that Bendis came up with.

Thanos is the most powerful villain, despite his Eternal, mutant heritage, his mind is the most dangerous weapon against his foes. He once turned a star into a super-nova for Death, killing billions of innocent people. Thanos also no longer has the ability to die. Death has rejected too many times, but he'll never know death.

In one of Thanos earlier conquests, it took the combined might of Adam Warlock, Captain Marvel, Moondragon, Spider-Man, Thing, & the Avengers to defeat Thanos.

i'm suprised that they still use the Mandrill. visually, he's interesting. but aren't they afraid of offending anyone. think about it for a second. he was originally paired up with Nekra. why? because of their "shared" background. both of Nekra's parents were black but she came out with white skin; albino. both of Mandrill's parents were white and he was born with black skin....and the features of a Baboon!!! it's not a big deal but i could imagine someone making a big deal of it.

    Thanos.

Plenty of other beings more powerful, but none I would call out and out villains. Eternity, Death, even Galactus are rated as forces of nature rather than in hero/villain categories. Thanos doesn't even qualify as total villain at the moment, given his recent characterization from the solo book a few years back. We'll see where he stands on the hero/villain scale post-Anihilation, I bet.

I'm not sure if he's really considered a villain anymore, but I know that Molecule Man was definitely considered a villain at one point. As far as powerful is concerned, he was one of the most powerful people out there, villain or otherwise.

Since a villain is how he started though, I still put him in that category even if I think he did reform or something. I'm not sure what did eventually happen to him though past the Secret Wars era where he fought the Beyonder.

Yep Thanos is widely regarded as not only the most powerful villain, but the baddest of the badasses in the MU.

Someone mentioned Galactus, but he's not really a villain...he's more a force of nature.

Mephisto is also extremely powerful...but really mostly in his own realm. Outside his realm he's considerable weaker.

I've always considered the Kree Supreme Intelligence to be quite a powerful telepath...certainly dwarfs Professor X in that department.

The Beyonder (now called Maker) is also extremely powerful.

Villains like Dark Phoenix, Korvac, Onslaught, Tyrant, etc., are all extremely powerful, (especially DP), but they've all been out of circulation for a long while.

    Wouldn't mind seeing Tyrant again.

Surtur was also an extraordinarily powerful being.

Not surprisingly, no one has mentioned Apocalypse...as he is an utter chump.

If faced against anything of this earth Magneto would be a bad ass. There is metal in the earth, there is lead in our blood, theres fuckin metal everywhere. He is a bad dude. But for me Apocalypse is a bigger bad ass. He could whoop Magnito if he chose to do so.

A few ass kickers: Terrax, Shadow King, Mephisto
But if you get right down to it the toughest hombre out there is

    Thanos

Thanos..not just brawn....but his brains makes him the most dangerous..

In fact, there isn't a moment Thanos actually 'loses'.......all of his previous 'defeat' were cos by Thanos himself due to his 'self rejection conscious' (whatever that means)

That's why he is on a road to self discovery for quite a while until the recent Annihilation Event where his current standing in the event is still unknown.

Dormammu and Shuma Gorath are pretty bad news.
Dormy tried to take on Eternity directly and Shuma did at one time --albeit a long time ago--have his way with the earth.
