Cool Batgirl Helping Batman To JUMP THE SHARK!

Hello, I am Jeremy Aron Patterson, here with a thread that is based on a similar thread over at the Golden/Silver/Bronze Age Message Board; You can find this thread at: http://www.comicboards.com/gsmb/view...rd=06010223313

The thread has some people telling all of us that the mid-1960s live action "Batman" TV show JUMPED THE SHARK with the debut of the "Batgirl Song" during the third season that is used during the Batgirl scenes!

I felt that I should give all of you this very simple question: Which moments would you consider to be the most notable examples of JUMPING THE SHARK moments that happened during the past five years; You can even include instances where entire franchises jumped the shark!(As well as a few previous moments.)

You can not only use examples from television: You can also use comic books, sketch comedy shows, book series, animation, Spanish-langugage television, & educational TV!

I have some examples of which to tell you:

*The second season of Alias (The lack of exotic costumes & wigs for Sydney!)

*The Family version of The Amazing Race (It was a one time deal, but it hurt ratings!)

How about more of these soon?

    Thanks!

    J.A.P.

Bush getting reelected. At that point, my suspension of disbelief regarding American democracy went out the window.

While I certainly didn't like seeing Bush get reelected, I can sort of understand why it happened.

Now if he were up for another term and somehow got reelected, then I'd be right there with you.

    Exclamation

Here are some more JUMP THE SHARK moments:

*Double Dare 2000 (Nickelodeon felt that they should revive their game show niche by reviving their well-remembered "Double Dare" franchise, but it flopped big time, due to the fact that it used the formula of the disasterous "Family Double Dare", with two families of four; the mundane prizes also spelled its doom.)

There was this one episode of Happy Days where Fonzie jumped over a shark or something. That was pretty lame.

Thankfully the show recovered and became very watchable and not a shameful joke after that.

Christ, how long ago did the phrase jumping the shark jump the shark? Has to of been a while ago, because bitching about jumping the shark jumping the shark has also jumped the shark.

Why not do something really original, like post Chuck Norris jokes?
The Punisher: I’m going to cauterize your rectum, sealing it shut, so when you turn those delicious Pink Pants™ Fruit Pies into waste products the bilirubin in your feces will leach into your bloodstream and you’ll die screaming! And I’ll watch while having sex with this grateful prostitute!

Trussed-Up Hooker: Blueberry are my favorite!

In other words, what StoneGold said.

    Lightbulb

    How about these:

    *Angel as a vampire lawyer.

*The death of Sue Dibney (Man, was that a fiasco!)

*Xena nearly killing off Gabrielle (This proves that the best heroes make the worst villains!)

    * Galactica 1980 (The JUMP THE SHARK version of the original Battlestar Galactica!)

*The celebrity version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire

    * The 1980s revivals of Space Ghost & The Heculoids that aired in Space Stars (This was more lame than great!)

    Red face

Here are two JUMP THE SHARK moments for Doug Wildey's H-B classic:

*The 1980s Jonny Quest revival from The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera (This version had a rock-man teammate as well as a batch of android super-villains!)

*The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest (This version included a 3D CGI-generated segment called "Questworld"; 'Donkey Kong Country' & 'The Butt-Ugly Martains' were better CGI programs!)

Tune in next time for a 1990 animated H-B Space-Age flick that doomed a franchise more than Space Mutts!

    Cool

Here is a theatrical attempt at JUMPING THE SHARK as well as two cases of Yogi Bear JUMPING THE SHARK:

*Jetsons: The Movie (This 1990 flick was a really bad send-off for the Space Age Family)

*Yogi's Ark (Yogi is recast as Noah; How many of you watched this?)

*Yogi's Space Race (Yogi in space; Did any of you watch this?)

Next time, Scooby brings you sports!

    See you then!

If Yvonne Craig constitutes jumping the shark, I'd be all for MORE shows jumping the shark. Heck, ALL shows could jump the shark for all I care.

I have this theory, still unconfirmed, that Yvonne Craig is a celebrity crush for all straight, male comic book geeks under the age of 50 and the FIRST media crush of any such comic book geek under the age of 40.
