Default Creators you DON'T want to team-up...

Brian Michael Bendis and David Finch (the artist who drew Avengers Disassembled and possibly the latest Moon Knight covers).

I just don't think these two creators' styles complement each other.

This isn't just a chance to gripe about Bendis's dialogue, either. I happen to enjoy some of his work. I also dig some of David Finch's art - especially the Moon Knight stuff I've seen, lately.

But the whining, damn-near static story progression that results from their collaborations is too much for me. David Finch's characters look pitiful and stiff as HELL and Bendis' words make them seem even MORE lost and torn... even when they not supposed to be.

    Just my opinion. What's yours?

Name some creators you DON'T want to team-up and why.

EDIT: Thanks to TinMan for helping me fill in the blanks.

    *looks for artist's name*
    That would be David Finch.

I would NEVER want to see Chris Bachalo working w/ Peter Milligan! I would probably have to commit suicide if that occured! Ok, maybe not necassarily, but if it was on an X-book, then I might consider it.

Edit: you should check out the 11 page preview for Moon Knight #1 that Marvel just released, I think Huston and Finch are gonna make a killer team on this new Moony series.

    His name is Olivier Coipel.

As for me, I don't really think a Frank Miller/Frank Quitely collaboration would go down to well.

I don't know if Coipel did any of Disassembled, but I know Finch did, and he's also penciling the new Moon Knight, which is what West also sited. I just linked to the preview above.

I think when Chuck Austen and Rob Liefeld team up to do a comic, that will bring about the end of the world.

    Cathy Guisewite and Frank Cho

I don't think he can write a non-buxom babe. Or else we'd see Cathy get frantic about the size of her breasts.

They already did, and produced one of the best books of the last 15 or 20 years.

Oh good lord! I'm glad I've never seen it, nor heard of it.

I want Busiek and Immonen to team back up... they rocked

A team I never want to see is Hitch with a bad writer. I would hate hate hate to see him wasted on some promotional stunt with a crappy writer. Goes for Maleev too.

Yup, the first couple years of SHADE THE CHANGING MAN (the old Vertigo series). Great stuff.

Then something went wrong with Bachalo's drawing. Sometimes I wonder if he had a stroke or something. His layouts are often indecipherable now, and his storytelling flows about as well as a shallow stream full of Silly Putty and bricks. Milligan's writing has also been hit-and-miss, but that's a consistent thing - for every SHADE or X-FACTOR, there are a couple really crappy books.

I don't think I've ever seen an uglier, more indecipherable book than that Ultimates/Ultimate X-Men crossover book Bachalo drew.

Sadly, that's just the way I felt when that came out. I was SO disappointed when this story that I'd looked forward to so, appeared as a 2-dimensional, 4-color mess.

Chris Claremont and George Perez would be such an affront to the senses on every level, I might have an anuerysm.

Reggie Hudlin has such a poor grasp of characterization, and Michael turner has such a poor grasp of drawing humans and human emotion, I can only imagine the strange blank pod people that might ocur if they teamed up. It would be such an emotionless muddle of misdirected characterizations.... like watching heroin addicts performing Brecht.

Many of my worst fears have already been realized, visa vis writer/artist team-ups.... I mistrust comic writers who don't draw to begin with, so I'm a bad guage for this.
