Default Why does my browser close when I click on certain thread titles?

This happens with both Mozilla and IE. Only here on CBR. I will click on a certain thread (for instance, the Phoenix thread in the Annihilation forum or StoneGold's "Oh My God!" thread in the Comm forum) and my browser closes down completely. And it's only with certain threads. I also try to click on the link that would bring me to the thread's most recent post, but that closes my browser too. What gives?

Sounds like a problem with your PC and nothing on CBRs side of things.
Try cleaning out all cookies and temporary internet files and then seeing how things go. Good luck!

Also download Microsoft Anti Spyware and run that. It may help with your Spyware.

Get the updated definitions though or it will be useless.

I've cleaned things out already. Thanks, Matt!

I have a couple of anti-spyware programs running already.

EDIT: I uninstalled both AdAware and Spybot and reinstalled them and ran scans. I also downloaded the Microsoft anti-spyware program. They found quite a bit of junk, but nothing seems to correct the problem I have with my browser closing.

Hulahulk, I have the same problem when I try to go to a friend's site. Anyway, I tried to open the Phoenix thread that was giving you problems thinking maybe if we both had the same issue we could solve it together. It opened for me, but before it did my computer made the noise it makes when I try to close a window and can't (kind of a "dunk") and a big grey box about 1/4 the size of the screen flashed in the top left corner for maybe a second. I couldn't find the other thread you were talking about, though.

I am at least relieved to know that this problem is not isolated to my machine, but now the problem is bigger. Let's try to figure some things out. I'll keep you posted via this thread. Thanks Josh S.

Red Sox? Eeww. Now I won't help you if I fix the problem.

    Just kidding. :)

I'll try to contact my buddy who always fixes this kind of shit for me once I get to feeling better. I apparently twisted my knee a couple days ago and now there's fluid built up on it. It's swollen to about three times it's normal size and walking is a chore, but they refuse to drain it until it's been like this for at least a week.

    Weep for me people.

Okay, that's it. I'm taking my toys and going home. Can't we all just get along?:p

Thanks. I know a guy who could fix your knee...for a price. It would involve pledging your undying devotion to the Red Sox.

That sort of stuff almost certainly is a problem on your end, not the forums. Therefore, sadly, there's not much we can do to fix it.

Just make sure you have the most up to date version of a stable browser (so stop using IE!) and check for spyware frequently.

But that's the thing. I use Mozilla 99% of the time, and I also use Spybot, AdAware, and now Windows Defender. I also have Norton Systemworks. I update these things several times per week, and am always running checks and cleaning out old and bad files. I realize that it's not a CBR problem per se; but I'm just wondering if there are other posters out there who have experienced the same thing.

I'm having the same issue. Anytime I click on NEWS on CBR, my browser closes. I also tried Googling CBR & going in that way. The same thing occurs. Seems like I am only able to access the forums anymore. I am running IE.

I'm having the same issue and I check for Spyware religiously. I don't think it's that.

I'm having problems with the main page also. The tab wants to close and I keep getting error messages. Inside the Forums area works fine but the main page is a nightmare of errors.
