do you think doctor doom should have an on- going series of his own?

It's hard to build a series around a villain, long-term.
I dunno, it'd depend on the creative team.

i know he had a few limited series and a marvel super-villian teamup in the past but since books of doom is such a hit maybe marvel should try an on-going series
It would be interesting to see.
I'd definitely buy it. :D
I'm buying the Books of Doom.
I'll probably buy the trade.
Who do you see as the creative team for an on-going Doom series?
Doom has had an ongoing atleast 3 times.
He shared Astonishing Tales with Ka-Zar.
Super-Villian Team-Up
Doom 2099.
I would definately buy another one, but I don't think we will get it for a while.
Those weren't entirely his books.
We want the current Dr. Doom.
I liked the 2099 book but it was a different Doom with a different costume.
Too much of a good thing is not necessarily a good thing. Too much Doom equals a watered down Doom.

In other words, what StoneGold said.

Those who would like a Doom book should check out Mark Waid's excellent Empire series from a few years back, about a dictator with super-armor who actually succeeds in taking over the world.

I wouldn't mind limited-series or one-shots, like they've done in the past, but he is the type of character that a monthly would ruin. He is an antagonist, not a protagonist.

Not sure it would be a good idea . I'd love such serie WELL done ..but the odds are that its unlikely .
It would probably ends up being a serie where :
-He is pure evil , but since the heroes he fights are invaluable , he couldnt win , and would mostly be pitted against new villains or other villains ... thus ending being a "good guy" .
-His noble and good aspects would be shown , wich is fine , but way to much , to the point that he is mostly shown dealing with other and worse villains .
-Probably wouldnt show much of the latverian economy , politican system and social life , and would instead be Doom touring around the world , and other worlds , to battle others .
-His supporting cast would most likely be bad , or helping to make him appears softer ..
Sure a great writer like Brubaker , or Priest could most likely make it works , but without a name attached to it , i'm not confident it would be a great serie .
I'd instead love a book dealing with the politics and warfare matters of rulers such as BP , Doom and Namor , like often shown in priest's Black Panther .
my pick for this book would be millar and turnerOriginally Posted by The Scribe

Just my opinion...![]()
How come a villain series doesn't work, long-term?
I can't remember ever reading one. I missed the Thanos series (which I am going to try and collect anyway) but Books of Doom is working out well I think.
It seems like the purpose of this mini is not really to be a series though, it's just sort of a deep retelling of his origin.
They're generally not all that sympathetic.Originally Posted by karik
