From what I understand the GnR line-up for the HoF has already been decided. It's Axl, Izzy, Slash, Duff, Steven, Matt and Dizzy.

Yeah, and? I'm not going to argue one way or the other whether the Monkees belong in the Hall of Fame, I have no stake in that argument, but I don't see how their abilities as songwriters is relevant. Many acts in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are best known for songs other people wrote.

Yep... Elvis picked a lot of good songs out to do from the song writers of that era. Of course Donald , as I posted...the Monkees did write 6 songs on "Headquarters" and played on it. And the album sold pretty solid for them. (1# one week , #2 to the Beatles for weeks after on the charts)

edit - Which really was a hell of an achievement for the guys. Because Nesmith and Tork were the only ones who had any experience playing. And they had to teach Micky and Davy how to play and all. The fact they toured and played after it... that's a lotta guts really to do. They were a fake band , but they by the end were writing and performing .

Matt and Dizzy deserve the nods. They came on in 1990 , was around for the 2-3 albums. Dizzy himself is still in the band. Ignoring him would be a slight , given the fact he's behind Rose as longest member of the band.

Those two albums have one album worth of good songs.

They basically did a hits package of the Illusion albums on one album. Personally , Illusion 1 is the superior album I felt. But of the 2 albums combined there is a lot of songs I felt was pretty solid from the 2 .

Ha ha... well I thought he was being serious. I admit Illusion 2 has a lot of songs that shouldn't be there. Axl rapping (which drew a joke from Slash , he and the others had no friggen clue that was gonna be on the album) and an alternate lyrics to Don't Cry. I wish they had put more work into "Crash Diet" and put it on the album.

Ashba: I've actually had dinner with Slash, and y'know, it's cool. I always put myself in the fans' shoes. They come to see all of those great Appetite songs, and who am I to change it up? I'm a fan too, so my motivation is to stay true to Slash's sound.

Its kinda cool that Slash and Ashba actually do know each other.

If a group of 50-year-old men can't put old resentments aside for one night and jam on a few songs, if for no other reason than to honor the fans that got them there, that would be pretty pathetic.

I doubt Axl will be able to muster the good will to let that happen, though if he could do it the way Metallica did it (with class) it would be a great moment for the fans.

Honestly , its why Wenner inducted Beastie Boys and RHCP. Just in case Rose won't do the show. And really , Rose marches to the beat of his own drummer and always will. Love or hate it.

I know that Nirvana gets a lot of credit for killing the hair bands, but i've always felt like Guns should get some of that credit since they actually were a hard rock/metal band i mean Axl and company showed them how it was done and how it was supposed to be.

I also really liked how each member was allowed to express himself fashion wise i think that made them stand out from the park of overly coifed pretty boys with poddle perm hair.

When they 1st started , if ya looked at Guns n Roses , you'd see pics like this...



And your thinking... obvious hair band. But they weren't. A fact in a "Spin" magazine article about the scene back then , it was said fans were so used to the Poison , Winger , Motley Crue hair bands by this point ...when G'n'R started playing they weren't liked as much by fans . They were different.

Some critics will say ...well Nirvana took out the hair bands (while true) they lump G'n'R there weirdly. But they neglect to see that the Illusion albums came out in 1991 and sold millions of copies. The band went on a massive 2+ year tour as well.

Had the band not self destructed as many seemed to know would happen , then G'n'R could have likely kept rolling through the 90's.

Yeah i have seen other early pictures where they look more hair band but even looking at that picture they might have the hair but the "look" is all wrong i mean they look tired and dirty and a little bit grouchy.

In this article Rose makes it clear , he's not interested in a reunion tour. He thinks its the laziest , money making thing a manager can do and won't do it.

There is some key points.


- He claims that Izzy and him did fight some. But not as much as him and Slash. Which led the band to breaking up.

- Manager wise its likely he's gonna be managed by his live in mother/girlfriend figure Beta Lebeis and her kids. That he trusts them the most.

- Once the tour is over , he's gonna work out things with the label and see where they go from here. Rose wants to do more new music.

- He claims he knows the fans are gonna want something special for the Hall of Fame in 4 months. That he will have to think up something because he doesn't wanna upset them.

This shit's makin' news everywhere.

Here's what I see happening:
Current line-up is in attendance -- like it or not, they are the Guns N' Roses of today.
The classic line-up shows up -- including Izzy & Steven, and maybe Matt off to the side. Not sure about Gilby.
Slash will be there, but in a separate area of the stage, so that if Axl gets jittery, there's no incident or anything.
From there, who knows?
Who knows what Axl will say or do, who knows what Slash will say or do?
But I've put down $20 on a bet to a buddy saying that something like this will happen.
(Here's hoping it pans out...)
