    Default Wintermen?

Was this title cancled? Issue four came out a good long while ago and I don't believe I've seen any solicitations? First Matador and now this. Dirrr.

What happened to the good old days of at least announcing that comics were canceled, especially the good ones?

Well, MATADOR was cancelled, according to the Diamond product updates. Brian Stelfreeze (artist/creator) injured his arm and that sent the project into oblivion. I think he's back doing other contract work, but I'd imagine he's so far behind that MATADOR is far down the list of "to do"

WINTER MEN - yes, this has been very annoying, the lack of any news from DC. I LOVE this series, go out of my way to support it, and it annoys the hell out of me that there is no way to find out what's going on. It LOOKS like it's been cut from 8 issues to 6. If so, it might be that the huge gap in issues came as a part of retooling the story for fewer issues. Currently #4 is schedule for March 29, a mere 5 months after the last issue. Previous solicits for issues 4-6 were cancelled, and I haven't seen any issue other than #4 re-solicited.

Not surprising that these two series have been neglected by the publishers and readers alike, but that doesn't make it any less dissapointing/agrivating.

For what it's worth, someone on the Wildstorm board at DC's website says that Stelfreeze is back to work at completeing Matador, but take that with a grain of salt because it doesn't appear to be backed up by much.

Cancelling MATADOR with one issue left would be the suck to end all sucks.

sucks - this title had a lot going for it IMO... i'd hate to see it on a twice yearly release schedule (or cancelled) :D

The end of March? Ugh. This has been one of my favorite comics to come out in quite a while. Bad news about Matador, too, but I guess I'd hoped that Stelfreeze had finished the series before he got injured. But that last issue had better come out. I've been patient!

i think this is one of the most interesting books that hardly anybody is reading. of course the off again on again release schedule doesn't help, nor does the fact that with a title starting with "w" it usually ends up on the lower corner of most racks. but i don't care, just so long as the rest of the issues really are on their way.

I did see a resolicit for Matador. I believe it's not until may though...I hate to say it, but why put out these really good series if your not going to market and support them...grr....

Yeah, I bleive Matador was resolicited. Terrible news about Stilfreeze. I love his art.

I also have been loving Wintermen. I'll wait however long it takes to see the thing done though.

    Default Winter Men Writer/Artist

I'm feeling a lot of group identification here, having really fallen for this book several months ago, recommended it to several friends, and anxiously considered its disappearance.

I don't know what happened to it except what's already been said here, and that we should see issue 4 in late March.

Does anyone know if the books' writer, Brett Lewis, and artist, John Paul Leon, have worked on anything else?

Notice that the solicit on the WildStorm page has gone back to saying the mini is 8 issues again, although it doesn't list a solicit after #4.

Brett Lewis has written an amazing contradiction of things: Bulletproof Monk (since turned into a movie over which there was a bit of trouble on credits), Weird Western Tales and, I think, episodes of the cartoons Powerpuff Girls, Scooby Doo and Dexter's Laboratory[/b]. My head refuses to accept that it's the same Brett Lewis on both cases, but it's not THAT common of a name...

Winter Men #4 out today, and definitely worth the wait. What a great issue. I love the way the dialogue seems like an English translation of Russian. Really hope they finish the series off sometime this year.

Yes, exactly. It's a really weird English, and I love it. Especially when they swear, they don't simply use american swears, but english translations of Russian swear words.

    "Back into your mother's opening!'

    Classic.
