Agreed. It's also nice to see the BPRD grunts close up, who can often be eclipsed by some of the more fantastical characters in the main series.
I enjoyed this issue as well, though I'll reserve complete judgement until I've got all three issues in front of me.
I was fascinated by the idea that people are starting to undergo physical...
Looks like Africa is the place to be
Same here! I wonder if those creepy Noh monkeys will turn up? The picture of the Crimson Lotus in The Dead had one perched on her shoulder while Daimyo had a vision of one when his squad was...
This is a tough one, but I think I come down on the "no" side.
My sentiments pretty much echo UnravThreads
Those Hell Notes are fantastic Middenway, glad to hear your doing more. Any hint on what the next one is on?
I'd love you for to do an analysis on the different fables/myths/legends/folk...
It's always cool to see the process behind these comics - love some of little comments they write.
Word of warning though - some of the descriptions seem quite spoilery about certain characters....
Wow. That was a very talky comic...
Absolutely. The art was pretty much the only reason I bought this and it was incredible. It'll be so nice to have the Fiumara brothers alternating on this ...
Now that was a very handsome looking comic. The opening sequence was gorgeous.
Great article Middenway, and I love your Black Flame theory.
He has stared into the abyss and the abyss has stared back into him.
We should speak no more of this...
Thanks Middenway. Where did this get announced?
I think Cantide has the right of it - this must come after Wasteland or else it makes no sense narratively. They probably jumped Cold Day in Hell ahead in order to better launch Abe Sapien next...
I love that walking-tank design!
But he is in the story - he's in the room with Kate when they realise Abe is missing. This is despite Kate making it clear in Return of the Master #5 that she had already sent Johann et al. on their...
Count me in the confused mob as well. I hope this wierd, jumpy chronology is not going to be a constant occurence now that the series has regular numbering/one issue a month. It pulls me out of the...
Ooooh.... say! I keep trying to think if its someone we've seen before or not.
Good point! Though it seems the power of the Ogdru Hem fluctuates wildly. The one in Russia and the at the end of...
Great work on all this Middenway!
This looks fantastic.
Hmm... really thought that last issue kinda sputtered out after all that setup. Feels less like a finale and more like a middle issue.
Still can't get enough kid Hellboy though - that last panel...
Preview is up here.
Great looking preview. Maybe a tad spoilerish though, so be warned.
This is one of the reasons I just could not enjoy these comics as single issue reading experiences. Your points are excellently made and while I agree with most of them I still can't get behind...
Man, I really could not get into this one. I wanted to but I just couldn't drum up the enthusiasm.
I think the central problem I had was, like 'Pickens', 'The Devil's Engine' and 'JH O'Donnell'...
