If you missed the episode, Mike describes the plot of Sins Past to Bryan. Bryan then calls the concept "awesome."

So...do we all hate Bryan now too? :)

Just enjoy the stories man. If you're looking to comics as an investment, you're going to be sorely disappointed. My advice: buy some stocks, and spend the dividends on Spidey comics.

I don't know. We don't actually see him creating special gloves or boots. Although now that I've re-read the issue, your interpretation does seem to make a lot more sense than mine.
